Only 16 and a half minutes tonight but it was another great showing for Muzzin. He was on for the PP goal but Kallgren kind of shoulda had that one.

I never fathomed we'd have a healthy-ish Muzzin for the playoffs but I'll be damned, it looks like we're getting it. He is such a big part of the defense.

He really did look good. Lower quality opponent, but the things he was doing would translate well. Looked comfortable WITH the puck which has been absent all season. Jumped into the play a few times, couple good pinches and some physicality.

If that is they guy we get, goes without saying it makes a HUGE difference to our defencive depth.

I have no idea if Muzz is with the team next year and beyond, but we need him now and I think he will give this team whatever is left in his tank for this playoff run. Hes looked good the last few games and having him for the playoffs is a big bonus to this team.

He looks like hell be ready to go home game 1.

Probably in a more sheltered role than he's had in the past, but he'll be an important asset shutting down the oppositions secondary threats

Could someone please tell me how he played in game 1 aside from the goal? Missed the game.

I don't want to oversell anything. And it's hard for defencemen to look bad in a game where they shut-out the opponent. But they all looked great! Muzzin included.

I thought Lybushkin was the only one who struggled, and took a couple ill-timed penalties. But the calls were borderline. And everyone else in the D group looked fantastic. Big credit to Rielly for fighting, Giordano looked like he could play 5 more years. And Liljegren was poised and fast!

Muzzin, specifically, was constantly making safe fast decisions with the puck. He played over 22 minutes (the Muzzin-Brodie pair lead the team in TOI), and it seemed like he was on the ice more than that. Particularly noticeable during board battles and outlet passes.

Solid outing for Muzz. Big time bonus for the team if he’s able to keep up that level of play. I’d worry about toi 22+ coming back is to me a bit high. Then again what do I know. Careful with off days so that he is fresh.

No worries. Only 17:44 for Rielly so it'll serve to keep him fresher for the next one.

As someone recently said above, the whole defence apart from Ilya L, played a flawless game. Muzz was right up there.

I don't know if anyone agrees wth this statement. I don't think Campbell had to make one difficult save.

Putting it differently, the defending Stanley Cup Champions didn't have one primary scoring chance.

I mean, that is Pat Burnsesque.,

I am still stunned at how well we played

I have been saying for a couple of months now that thi is on the ice, the best team in the NHL.

As long as the refs and Gary Vegas play ball, I see the city going mad crazy sometime soon.

I will stay in a B N B on the toronto island to watch with a telescope. No way I am going to enter the chaos first night at my age LOL.

I will close by saying the team played such stifling defence I kind of think they just don't want Campbell to face anything that they cannot prevent by playing their very best defence.

LOL, on the other hand, Tampa's defence put Vasi out to dry many times. U gotta think that guys confidence has to be shaken right?

Who would take the Muzzin contract at this point ? Or even Brodie's for that matter.

Unless we're adding picks to the deal, I think the team is stuck with Muzzin for at least a couple of more seasons.
