I used to have quite a thing for her when ''physical'' came out . Excellent singer, classic beauty and by all account a very good person as well. She'll be missed.
Would this be the ''thing'':dunno::laugh:

Just came back from a fantastic road trip with the GF that first took us to a Billy Joel concert at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, then to Myrtle Beach for some beach and golf, before ending it in a small place called Old Bridge, NJ, for a real retro show : Loverboy-REO Speedwagon-Styx affair.
Billy Joel was amazing. The venue is pretty. Sound at PNC not so much. Only negative. I just love Billy.
The other concert was fine. GF loves Gowan and I have to admit that he’s very talented and charismatic. But the guy who shocked me the most was Mike Reno, Loverboy’s front man. OMFG, what happened to that guy?!? He now looks like freaking John Candy at his most obese period. Holy frig, he was just not movin’ on stage. Still has the same Loverboy voice, but man, he must have glandular issues. I was expecting him to croak at any moment in front of me.

How about a little coked up 100 miles an hour 70's prog rock number ?

Feel compelled/obliged to clarify a few things. No they were not on anything, they are/were very serious musicians that are extremely talented, cant play music like that on anything. Happens that was the style/fashion/look in the Netherlands at the time, even the street cops had no hair restrictions, much to the dislike of the older generations. Sure they partied, but mostly hash, booze and maybe a little lsd but heroin was big then but they were not in to that. Coke was hardly a thing then in the Netherlands and even Rinus Gerritsen, the bassist for Golden Earring, never heard of it until Hendrix tried luring him with that to join his band. He couldn't imagine it,thought it was like marijuana and how the heck do you sniff that.:laugh:There's a video of him talking with Cesar, the drummer about that but it's only in Dutch with no subtitles,so.................

Here's how the song came together and for the show, they were asked to cut it from 7 minutes to 4 as that's all the time they could have, they cut out some and played the rest much quicker than usual, epic!

Sounds good! Would be nice to see those bands again. Seen Styx a few times but never with Gowan, how is it? played some Gowan also?
A fair amount of driving eh? and some golf at MB in the summer, hot and humid? the GF not the golf:jk: Courses in good shape? play any I know?

Reno was pretty big last time I saw him, and that's gotta be 20ish years or so.

Nice road trip! How much planning was involved and how long were you away for? Man, I love those kinds of outings.

Just had a flashback of my student days when I’d do wedding gigs to earn extra cash.

This song used to be on the repertoire of many bands, probably still is for some:

As a drummer, you can play this while sleeping. Great opportunity to people-watch.

I wasn't saying the BAND was on coke, just that the song itself was ;)

Gowan steals the show and Tommy Shaw lets him. He’s a great musician and can sing as good as the previous signer while running and jumping and playing some mean piano. Very talented.

No, he didn’t play Criminal Mind, but he played a pretty wicked classical music part (name escapes me). And got a standing O. He also entertained the crowd and had them signing on some pieces from Genesis amd Elton John! Elton John was crazy, crowd knew ALL the words to Rocket Man, and he let the crowd sign the chorus, which floored me considering the style of attendees he had.

I played two courses : Myrtle Beach National because I just love any Arnold Palmer course. And Arcadian Shores, close to our hotel-condo. I could have picked a better one but we had fun.

Great trip! It started when we booked the Billy Joel concert in March. Then, I wanted to show the GF some roads and places. We had planned a 12-day trip, that was prolonged when the lady saw the other concert on a FB ad (of course). In between, I had planned for her a visit of Washington, DC. Great 2 day stay, including the obligatory stop in Georgetown.

Myrtle was a 5-nighter, and after we changed the itinerary to come back on Sunday instead, by making a stop in NJ for the show.

Awesome road trip. I’m a sucker for those. I just love to drive, man. And the lady has a comfy 4-Runner Trail Edition, so all was good.

Oh! And I brought back some American germs: ze Covid again! She had stayed too long away from me I suppose! Prolly caught it in the numerous greassy spoons we ate in.
