Always loved live music but I have a young family so I don’t get out much.

So Danny Greaves was doing a solo set last Saturday at the Park theatre and I went out with two buddies who are fellow Watchmen fans. Danny opened for the Ripperz and I had no idea who they were. Danny did a great job and my buddies and I decided to stay to watch the Ripperz and man were they a talented band. We were older than their normal fans but Its pretty funny all three of the old men stayed until the band was done and we all left with Ripperz T shirts  (and a hang over the next day).
My favourite Watchmen tune.:)

One of my favourite Christmas songs.

Love it Buggs I grew up a massive Who fan and Entwhislte and Moon were a huge part of that. Listening to their odd (two leads) amazing rhythm ripping on “The Real Me” (Quadrophenia) was just so cool. Never saw them live with Moony which is a big regret.
I never managed to see them in their complete form either. Honestly it was quite a struggle to get to see them as a band at all. Just mostly poor timing (they came through Winnipeg when I was in Australia). Had tickets for Daltrey as a solo act but that got cancelled due to throat issues. Was thankful that a few years later he and Townsend toured as "The Who". It was a fabulous show.

There is a great quote on one of the YouTube videos where someone ascribes The Who as basically four solo artists that each functioned in their own world and somehow made it work. Moon was ever frenetic and unpredictable; Townsend was perpetually stoned and thrashing, but it worked, Daltrey was doing the lead singer thing and Entwistle just sat back there, doing his damnedest to hold it altogether, either by meshing with Moon, taking lead while Townsend went off in directions unknown, or functioning as rhythm and bass at the same time. Really fascinating to dive into the Who. I love them.

I saw them in Seattle for the first time and the Clash were backing them in about 1982 ish. Sadly it was after Keith passed. I saw them in Vancouver in the late 80’s and they were so good in that Venue. I saw them about 10 years ago in Winnipeg post Entwhistle and they were still good but getting older. I remember going to a drive inn in Edmonton way back in the day in about 1981 to see “The Kids are Alright” movie with my buddies who were all Who fans too and it was a blast Drinking and watching a young prime who crush it in that movie.

I agree with the four leads playing at the same time. The Isle of Wight Festival in the early 70’s captured a very raw live version of what made the band so unique. Great footage of a prime Keith Moon driving the band in his usual maniacle way.

There Is a cool Movie on Netflix called “Count Me In” and with about 32:00 minutes left Stephen Perkins, who was the drummer for Janes Addiction and Porno for Pyros, breaks down what he loved about Keith’s drumming by dissecting and playing “Who Are You”. If you get a chance to watch that its great. I really like his interpretation of Keith’s style of play. Its really cool watching Stephen play the song and they kind of switch back and forth between Keith and Stephen.

Thanks for this. It's a new one for me, much appreciated.

Going away for Christmas, into the New Year. Thanks to all of you for your participation in this thread. Music brings me great joy and is incredibly powerful emotionally, pulling up memories from the past that I almost universally I am happy about. I wish you and yours the absolute best of the season. I very much enjoy this community, even if I generally hate people.

What was The Clash like live?

Two of my favourite albums are London Calling and Sandinista but the live clips I’ve seen felt a little weird. Angry, fast and not really true to the material on those two albums at least.

Have been listening to them all afternoon long. Made my work today a bit more bearable.

OK, we are 16 days out from Christmas/Festivus or whatever you may align with. I'm away over Christmas, leaving on the 21st so have to do my damage early. Got the Grinch shit out of the way early so...

I really enjoy Broken Peach's take on so many songs, but to be honest I don't love that much of their Christmas fare. Still, can't deny their energy. It's exhausting watching them.

Really is not enough of DKM in the world when it comes right down to it. Have yet to see them live, but it's on the list.

Never not going to love watching this video. Already warned my wife this is the path in retirement.

It's not Christmas without this one.

A Wonderful Life! For me, this is almost standard viewing during the holidays Christmas. Yep, I'm a sucker for these old films.

A newer version is this little gem, same idea, much different delivery. :)

It's a different world for me now...

It's humbling...

And on this day it's as it should be...

I present pure Winnipeg.... JP Hoe... a concert played on Dec 16th at the Burt...

A Christmas concert...

It is so eclectic... so JP... so wonderful... enjoy...

Its 2 hours of joy... so sequester yourself with some snacks... some spirits, something that warms the soul...
