So still livin' in the past...

Early to mid 80s my favorite bands were easily Maiden, Priest and Scorpions. I've seen them all a bunch of times, sometimes together, which was rather awesome. Kind of comical now that their album covers were considered risque. Anyone been on Instagram lately. LOL. If you're a fan and still of the physical appeal of music, the Mercury Years is a great CD to own.

And speaking of living in the past, does anyone find it hard to find good, new music? It's out there, no question, but where is it being played? I confess to listening to Sirius mostly, so given I listen to old people stations I'm not expecting to find it there so much, but what are the channels it might be on. And I'm talking predominantly rock style music more than anything else. It's a big part of the reason I gave up on local stations for Sirius. Honestly I grew to hate 92/97. I love AC/DC as much as the next guy but they have really deep catalogues yet we never hear much of it at all. Just the same damn songs over and over again. I mean this stuff isn't even really new anymore but I never heard it on any stations I've ever listed to. The youtube wormhole is kinda magical.

Shame on y'all. So much ignoring of a Canadian icon. Maybe not from a Canadian perspective but I spent a ton of time at meetings in the U.S. and for about 20 years she was literally representative of Canada. My wife is a huge fan so I'm allowed to watch these vids.

here’s a bigger icon .....

Big, big Dire Straits fan, and Knopfler's solo work as well. He skipped us on his last tour, played Minneapolis and I was in Vancouver when he was there, but secondary prices just kept climbing and climbing so I opted out as the cheapest ticket I could get day of was approaching $500. Was staying on Granville in a not really nice part because hotels were so booked at that time I couldn't get closer to downtown for work. Would have been very cool though as he was playing the Commodore. I've only seen him twice, once solo, sometime in 20xx and with Dire Straits in 1988 when he toured with Eric Clapton. Not much guitar talent on the stage that day.

I had a huge Straits phase in the mid 80s. Good times.

The guitar work on this song is probably my favorite of all time, rivaling that on Comfortably Numb. Toss a coin. One of the best purchases I made in recent time is a pair of Bowers & Wilkins P7 headphones and oh do those songs sing on them. Really had to let them break in though, probably more than 30 hours and they were really flat at the start. Glorious now.

Original British video (what is that 6p resolution?) so not what we were seeing on Much Music.

I keep looking for Emmylou but I can't find her anywhere. Brilliant version of a great song. Kind of missing the repetitive chorus aspect, but I'll let it slide this time. :sarcasm:

One of my first concerts ever was the Scorpions with some weird named band as the backup, Bon Jovi .
