One bad game and Binner's save pct drops from .935 to .903. This game was not on him at all but hopefully his confidence does not waiver from the miserable bunch of lazy losers playing in front of him. He truly is the only reason they have 3 wins right now.

Hopefully last night was rock bottom for them. We will see, I think it could go either way. They need to play like they did last fall during the injury/covid crap when Chuckie came up and was the best goaltender in the league with a legit half AHL lineup. They were shutting down teams defensively and letting the PP provide the offensive boosts they needed. That is how you win when your team is garbage and they are way past just being garbage.

Also people need to stop defending Schenn by saying his point totals are good so he is playing well. He is playing his worst hockey as a Blue right now along with ROR. Point totals are totally irrelevant if you don't commit to playing a 2 way game. That is why losers like Matt Duchene will never win a cup. Schenn and Kyrou have been our worst forwards by a pretty large margin IMO and that is saying something since ROR looks like ass as well.

Besides the powerplay goals against, it felt like every goal against was avoidable, or it was a direct result of an unprovoked mistake.

Leddy tries to pass the puck through 3 Canadiens, gets turned over, 5 seconds later it's in our net.

Canadiens have a routine 2 on 2 which leads to a low danger chance, but the 2 backchecking forwards (Thomas and Tarasenko) decide to double up coverage on those 2 guys and Caufield is wide open in the slot. Sure, the Canadiens get a fortuitous bounce, but that puck almost certainly doesn't end up in the net if just one of 18 or 91 cover him instead of going after guys that are already covered by Krug and Faulk.

Binnington moves the puck to Faulk, who has plenty of time to make a routine breakout pass to O'Reilly, but it's a bad pass that goes through ROR's skates and gets picked off aaaaand it's in the net.

Canadiens rim it around the corner boards and Mikkola can't stop it. It's not moving very fast, it's not bouncing, it's on the ice, but still it somehow gets past him and right to a Canadien. In the next 10 seconds the Canadiens get 3 solid chances, the 3rd of which makes it 6-3.

Credit to the Canadiens, they capitalized on the chances they got, but 3 of the 4 ES goals had a pretty blue bow on them.

lmao

this team is f***ED.

What brand of hockey does Berube want them to play? I truly don’t know the answer to that. Because I see a team that’s horrible defensively and I just don’t believe it’s the players refusing to listen to coaching. Something they are being taught is not working.

Coming back online after missing the last few games but seeing the scores....

That reminds me of a time when a few of us medics were brand new and in our barracks over in Germany.

We got wasted playing Jimi Hendrix and started a fire in a metal mop bucket. Luckily, we didn't burn down the whole building after spraying lighter fluid all around the room, which made the fire spread, of course.

We left the door open like dumb asses and a NCO walked in to ask for a light for his cigarette. He promptly turned around, walked out and blocked it from his memory cuz he never said a thing about it.

True story.

Watching game today. Thought we played fairly well first half and then wheels fell off. Not sure what happened but we got sloppy and everything ended up in our net. I thought our D were particularly bad, turning pucks over and losing coverage. Miko may have worst puck skills in entire league; the other guys made some bad mistakes but he just can’t transition puck at all.

We need to give Calle Rosen a chance.

Great. For all Mikkola's faults, he is our only D who knows what to do in front of the net. The rest of our D either just stand there doing nothing or skate pirouettes while watching the opposing team score.
miko needs to play with someone who excels in transition, even if they are not as good in own end, to cover for each other's weaknesses. neither parayko nor borts are good partners for him.

I am disappointed in Mikkola, I still had some hope he could take the next step to at least become an every night player, but he’s just way too inconsistent. No chance he will be back next season IMO so I’d like to move him in a package for a d-man before the deadline.

I don’t think Rosen is the answer either though. Ideally him and Bortuzzo are the 7th and 8th D, they can play occasionally but not every game. Come playoff time, I’d actually like to see our bottom pairing be Tucker and someone like Mayfield. Tucker continues to play really well in Springfield, he shouldn’t be far from getting a look in St. Louis.

People keep saying transition over and over. So we go out and get Faulk, Krug and Leddy. All excel in transition. Yet our D core still sucks major ass. Because you got to get the puck on your stick to transition it. If you cannot win a board battle and cannot keep the opposing team from owning the crease, all the transition in the world doesn't help.

better we have guy like miko who repeatedly gives puck back to opponent? it doesn't have to be either or.

I like Miko but he needs to go yesterday.

Call up Rosen and any Springfield D. In them I trust. Let’s not forget how they came in to a injured D and helped carry. That’s teamwork. Whatever we’re coaching down there, we need to be coaching up here.

No better we balance the pairs rather than throw Mikkola away. And its not repeatedly. Mikkola has 4 giveaways in 7 games vs Faulk's 6. They are right on pace with each other on a per minute basis.

Edit: Rosen who is replacing Mikkola actually has 3 giveaways in 18 minutes this year, for 2nd worst Giveaway/60 in the NHL. So going by past performance this year, we are getting more giveaways and losing our only half-way decent net-front D.

guy like faulk will always have some level of turnovers because he so often has puck and is actually looking to make plays. but yes, we should balance pairs. as i said above, "miko needs to play with someone who excels in transition, even if they are not as good in own end, to cover for each other's weaknesses. neither parayko nor borts are good partners for him."
