Good luck with that. He's signing with the Isles this summer, and then all of this nonsense can stop. Galchenyuck for Tavares, lol, best joke I've heard all day. I counter with Greiss for Price. Oh, we'll just sign Price when he becomes a free agent.

Chucky is 22,Tavares is 26. We have a cost control player for at least 5 more seasons.
Tavares will demand a hefty contract in 2 yrs.
Chucky is improving greatly.
Now why would we trade him for Tavares?

Chucky is currently out-producing Tavares.

Sorokin is not even in the same league as Price in more ways than 1.

Because Galchenyuk and Greiss are comparable in terms of value right?
Trade value wise, yes, both ridiculous offers. Any intelligent hockey fan would take Tavares over Galchenyuk any day if the week. It's just a ridiculous trade offer, just like Greiss for Price.

Not really. I agree Tavares is far superior than Galchenyuk but both are #1 C's. But Greiss isn't even in the same planet as Price

Agree. As an Isles fan I wouldn't want to make this trade and think Tavares value to the organization transcends his on ice contributions.

But, Galchenyuk is a fine young player and I think that's being overlooked in the knee-jerk responses.

I understand the Isles fans on this, but they should really use better analogies to make their point.

I wonder if one day a fan will actually go "I see the point you're trying to make" as opposed to "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO MY PLAYERS RULE AND YOUR PLAYERS SUCK HOW DARE YOU TRY TO COMPARE THEM", which so far is the only response I get from ya'll.

Hello pot...this is kettle.

Vague idioms don't disprove my point.

When it's Tavares for Gally, Tavares will be a UFA in 2 years and Gally is still improving and under team control.

When it's Price for Sorokin, Price being a UFA in 2 years, Sorokin still improving and under team control are all ignored and dismissed.

Now that OUR franchise player is on the table the same parameters don't apply. Why? No other reason except fans talking up their own assets and talking down the other team's. Can't just go "yeah, teams don't like trading franchise players for prospects who might one day get that good, even if the franchise player only has 2 years left on their contract". Nope, it has to turn into an argument that Carey Price is like a hundred times more valuable than Tavares because Habs fans say he is.

Any attempts to put the shoe on the other foot are completely invalid because I'm wearing designer loafers and you're wearing Payless.

And last year Carey Price saw exactly how bad the Habs are without him. Then they traded PK for an older, more expensive defenseman. His contract is up the same time as JT's, so naturally you must be worried about Price also refusing to resign and testing the free agent market, right?

Because he mentioned it, the new owners mentioned it. There will be no drama like Stamkos (who signed with his original team anyway).

And you're right, our team sucks, you crushed us in the 2nd round of the playoffs last year. Oh wait.....

To NYI: Alex Galchenyuk

To MTL: John Tavares

Tavares is the better Player but is a UFA at the end of next season. He could command Toews, Kopitar money (especially if seeing playoff success after the trade).

Galchenyuk is RFA at end of this season, but has two more seasons before hitting full UFA eligibility. I Assume he would sign a long term extension in the $7 million range with NYI.

I think on its face Montreal adds, but the money ($3 million per year) and prospect of losing Tavares for nothing in year's time could push the dial back to even.

On behalf of all Islanders fans: **** off. :handclap:

And this year they have Price back, and a better player than PK, where's the issue?

Are we really talking about the past? You sure? Suuuure? Ok... 24 Cups :). And the year before last, where we lost arguably the MPV of the league, we finished 2nd in the east, so take it easy.

Thanks for proving my point. Of course there's no issue, of course Price is 100% confirmed to resign in Montreal for a fair rate while Tavares is counting down the days til he can leave as an Islander. The Habs fan said so.
