What's going on with Kovacevic? I haven't been watching NJ at all. He seems to be having a great year, so much so that I can't see them being able to keep him. They are committed to Hamilton and Pesce.

I think they'll hang on to him this year, he's finally taking a step forward this year.

I'm curious if they try to keep him going forward, because they have Nemec in the wings, so he's the perfect space filler right now.

The D has been fine. The numbers have been posted repeatedly for you, you just want to live in delusion where you don't like what the advanced stats say so you want to spin a narrative of "achsually I know better than the advanced stats". No you don't, you don't know shit.

The 5 on 5 D has been best part of the team's game this year. They have only allowed 4 more goals at 5 on 5 than Winnipeg has. 5 on 5 they have a lower GA than Florida and Vegas (the no.1 team in the division) and Vancouver (the other team ahead of them).

If the offense wasn't shit to start the year or the goalies trash, they should be no.1 or no.2 in the division now.

Even with the horrendous PK where the goalies are awful, the GA is significantly down overall this year versus the last two seasons. 53 GA versus 66GA last year and 61 GA two years ago through 17 games is a significant improvement. That's fact not an opinion.

Just because a 4th line scrub was cheating out of the zone and managed to get a partial breakaway doesn't invalidate all the work the D does. You're not going to stop teams from getting zero chances for entire periods at a time, that's not how hockey works.

It's interesting that Colorado also has had goalie issues. The difference is that they are trying some different things, even if it's claiming Kahkonen and trying him for a game. It's very likely imo that they will figure out their goaltending with this attitude, while the Oilers feel the answer is just to let their guys figure out. I don't see why we would bet everything on these two guys. It would be like if the Avs decided to commit long term to Kuemper and just ride that out. Sure Georgiev hasn't been it either but keeping Kuemper would have been worse.

At least they chose Kuemper and not Campbell.

Why on earth did we give all that term to an unproven goalie. The other one was Cal Petersen, another disaster, but LA gets full marks because they didn't commit term
They did commit term, they just managed to get out it.

Teams are desperate to find that guy, Husso looked like it...but it's tough.

Can anyone show me statistical evidence that Savard is a capable top-4 dman?
He plays for Montreal and they think every player they have is amazing.

He’s not better than anything the oilers have

This doesn’t prove your point like you think it does

David Savard is cooked and honestly has never been a good top 4 d-men.

Plus Montreal's GM is a wizard at getting absurd value for his crappy players. I don't want to give up a 1st for David Savard lol. But you know that'll be the deal.
