Next year at 50% yes we might get a pick but I was talking about this year and no nobody wants him unless there’s another contract coming inPlenty of teams looking for a goal-scoring powerplay specialist will inquire after Hoffman; he's one-dimensional, but his production when healthy and skill-set render him attractive...
... next year when his contract is expiring and Habs retain 50% at the deadline.
As for Dach: just another 4th line player being paid around 3.5 million by the Habs. They do love their 3rd overall busts.
Yes this could be a steal but it could de a flop tooif he's finally healthy, this could be a steal. kid has tons of talent

I don't think we can trade him away for a return either right now. We'll either have to retain, pay assets or wait for him to play well.Hoffman, even when he was scoring 25+ goals and 55+ pts, was having a hard time finding teams wanting him.
Imagine now that he's an unidimensional , soon to be 33 yo, soft scoring winger... that doesn't score anymore...
He and Armia, if we dont take similar contracts back or pay to get rid of, we're stuck with them until maybe the last TD of their respective contract...
Nevermind.
I asked the same question about walking Dach to free agency and then saw that it had already been answered. No need to flatter yourself.Ok ? Seems like Habs' moves really draw unwanted attention, thanks for visiting
Weird contract. Teams/players typically just go for a 2 year bridge at this point.
Yeah, maybe for one of those toy model boats? lol.An enormous 3.3625 mil boat anchor
Great signing, still an RFA. Number 2/3C with upside and a ton of size. This could look like a steal and what KK should have gotten.
Well done Hughes, congrats Habs Fans
doesn’t seem like he really believes in himself. if you think you’re gonna be good you take 2 years max
He is a UFA by the end of the contract
I doubt other GMs will either.
Habs use LTIR a lot. They’ll find a way to keep burying overpaid guys that aren’t performing. So don’t be surprised if Drouin, Byron, Hoffman and/or Armia spend time on LTIR this season.
If the NHL gives you an exit ramp like LTIR. Feel free to use it. It gave your salary cap mess a get out of jail free card on both Weber and Price contracts. It’s done wonders for Tampa and other clubs as well.
In a hard cap league, LTIR is the biggest advantage I see for wealthy clubs with generous ownership. As I’ve thought more and more about salary cap circumvention by clubs like Montreal and Tampa, I’m increasingly OK with it. The clubs have wealthy/generous owners and strong fan support to help boost the teams bottom line. They deserve a little advantage for their respective generosity.
