No, he will still be an RFA.Doesnt that take him straight to UFA ?
I initially thought same as you. Curious as to why as well. Wonder if it's because he on injured so long. For some reason I thought if you played directly in the NHL after your draft year you became UFA at 25 years old. Why does his 20-21 not count ?
Who’s taking Armia and Hoffman? I know I wouldn’t if I was GMDont understand why pp are not ok with this, realy...
We gonna unload Drouin, Dadonov, Armia, Byron, Hoffman and possibly Monahan this season.
3.3 AAV for Dach, well done KH.
"Boat anchor on a rebulding team..." 21 years old center, former 3oa pick...
That’s what. $3.37mm per? Seems a little steep but 4 years is good term.Four-year contract for Kirby Dach | Montréal Canadiens
The deal, which runs through the 2025-26 season, is worth $13.45 millionwww.nhl.com
The injury and the fact that the injury was not NHL related- git injured elsewhere- maybe at world juniors so the season does not count as an accrued season. Not enough games played. 18 games would have been enough if the injury happened in NHL.I initially thought same as you. Curious as to why as well. Wonder if it's because he on injured so long.
I doubt other GMs will either.Who’s taking Armia and Hoffman? I know I wouldn’t if I was GM
Yes broken wrist at world juniors. Even if we keep Armia and Hoffman, KH could deal Dvorak too. Plenty of cap space to come.Who’s taking Armia and Hoffman? I know I wouldn’t if I was GM

Habs use LTIR a lot. They’ll find a way to keep burying overpaid guys that aren’t performing. So don’t be surprised if Drouin, Byron, Hoffman and/or Armia spend time on LTIR this season.
If the NHL gives you an exit ramp like LTIR. Feel free to use it. It gave your salary cap mess a get out of jail free card on both Weber and Price contracts. It’s done wonders for Tampa and other clubs as well.
In a hard cap league, LTIR is the biggest advantage I see for wealthy clubs with generous ownership. As I’ve thought more and more about salary cap circumvention by clubs like Montreal and Tampa, I’m increasingly OK with it. The clubs have wealthy/generous owners and strong fan support to help boost the teams bottom line. They deserve a little advantage for their respective generosity.
Bit of a gamble, but at four years it's far from a boat anchor on a rebuilding team.
Price 10.5M going to LTIR, possibly a forward moving out soon too.Good deal. Just wondering how this works capwise? They are over the cap by more than 10mil according to capfriendly
Not only that, but it's the NHL who recommended the Habs cap guy, John SedgwickAnd being major contributors to the revenue sharing...
Irrelevant…… Montreal already has 1/2 dozen bad contracts on the books…. What’s 1 more in the big picture.
I do not think this player is going to effect their goal to tank the upcoming season for a top draft pick!
