Its weird that over the last 4 years when DD is on the ice, teammates CF% almost always increase vs when hes off the ice. Youd think if what you said was true itd be the opposite

When you watch him play you will understand. His advanced stats actually make him out to be a solid player. Hes not.

He's a good playmaker. Struggles more than he used to. Constantly used incorrectly in Montreal which makes people say he is this huge disease.

Need a guy to get passes to bottom sixers and make guys like Dale Weise rich? David is your man. Expect Desharnais to play top six? You're gonna have a bad day.

Then this trade will work out perfectly for the Oilers, since there is literally no room in the top 6 for him and on the bottom hell have some solid wingers to work with

I wish people could see this trade for what it is, pretty unimpactful. Hes the catch 22 for Davidson: either he goes to Montreal and continues to improve (still shaking off rust from injury) and Montreal "wins" the trade this year, but then LV will claim him in expansion draft since already rumored they wanted him. Or he stagnates as a bottom pairing D and the trade is a wash.

Montreal fans will likely love Davidson, hes very smart, hes good defensively and showed offensive chops in prior year. In the back of my head I have a small worry he could be another Marincin tho. Marincin impressed the hell out of people in his first year on the Oilers, then 2nd year looked up and down and was traded to Toronto and never came close to his rookie season again. Davidson is sort of following same path, although his up and down season can be attributed to coming back from 2 injuries that kept him out 6 months

Everything about DD will seem like an exaggeration.

Yeah, that happens with a passionate fan base. A lot of these posts here need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Thanks for being a reasonable poster. Its nice to get opinions other than the typical "omg he suxx lol stupid chiaturd". I think expectations are very reasonable from the Oilers standpoint. We just need him to fill a specific small role (no pun intended...).

oilers are dead last in faceoff wins. he brings in vetern experience and helps in that area. Davidson wasn't needed. he was barely playing.

He has been less than 50% the last two years. If the oilers want to win faceoffs they should recall anton lander who is a proven 55% plus guy,.

If DD was placed on waivers no one would claim him.

Very confusing, but he won't play very long in EDM so I guess it is a nothing move.

DD will put up points.

For whatever reason, the narrative became DD being the reason Eller never bloomed into a high goal scoring #1 C.

He will do well for the Oil. He was one of the best passers of the puck for the Habs. I wish him nothing but success.

Therrien fired, Desharnais traded - what a crazy year for Bergevin!

Hopefully capped off by Bergevin's head rolling at the end of the year!

This trade is good for him, but he really only got rid of a mistake he made in the first place. Same with Therrien. The guy is a massive poser, totally unable and incapable of being a GM in the NHL. He has fast-tracked his team out of "compete now" into "rebuild now" over the course of a couple of months through his disastrous chain of mistakes.

Yea he will be a marginally better faceoff guy, but other than that he will be producing at caggiula level.

Oilers fans hes not a bottom six guy, hes atrocious in his own zone, does fly byes on the back check etc....

Im not sure what you guys expect from him.

Umm...I know you hate DD but come on...marginally better faceoff guy than Caggiula? The later is doing 38.8% while DD (historically ~50%) is having, by far his worst year faceoff wise, and is still doing a paltry 47.8%.

So, in reality, Bergevin made great moves. Got it.

Davey is a good playmaker when he has space to make plays and dish to his teammates , problem is he is incapable of creating his own space and I think it will be even tougher in the western conference.

Town NHL hates !
Everyone is jumping left and right on this while the most likely scenario is DD won't be in Edmonton at the end of the season (he's an UFA and they won't resign him) and Davidson might be chosen in the expansion draft.

I actually dont hate him, I give him all the credit in the world for defying the odds. But hes been worse then lackluster the past two years, while being gifted ice time at the same time.

...Ehhh... There's a few guys to pick (in Montreal) before Davidson.

No, because if you make mistakes and you fail to fix them for too long they will inevitably destroy you.

See the Habs this year; old, slow, get shutout every other game, and are just poorly built and sad all around outside of a ridiculous and unsustainable start.

They need a full rebuild, and that's due to Marc Bergevin and Marc Bergevin only.

It's not people just like to over react.

Worst trade in NHL history. Fire Chia!!!

am I doing it right?

Oilers played last night with one line not having a real NHL C, so I get the need Chia is trying to fill. Caggiula has been struggling for a month or more, and McLellan really likes McDavid and Drai together.

Maybe Chia wanted cap space for next season, and maybe this means we're re signing Russell

I liked Davidson a lot though. Hopefully Desharnais can help out as 3C

I think you must have been a diehard subban fan because i fail to see any mistakes. Ie. Radulov, danault, davidson for desharnais etc.
