I don't understand why a storied and respected organization like Montreal did this. They don't need him and the bad publicity that comes with him. They should have traded his rights. I'm sure there's at least one team in the league that would have jumped at the chance to sign him.

Am a little surprised he is signed at this point not because of the issues, I believe in second chances, but because he has only played 19 games in 2020-21 and only 12 in 2021-22. I guess they liked what they did see from him to feel he was worth signing.

He sent a snapchat of a girl (you could only see the top of her head apparently) giving him a bl**j** to his teamates, one of which reported him or told the girl not sure. I think you couldn't tell who the girl was from the picture, but he put her name somewhere in text.

If there's anything that professional sports has shown (even today), is that if you have talent, you always get a 2nd chance, and even a 3rd, and a 4th, etc... Fans may be upset early on, but over time, fans forget as long as the player's performance is good.

Mailleux was drafted 31st overall. Thirty teams already took a pass on him. I doubt playing another 12 games, since the draft, in the OHL has changed their minds

I’ve seen this guy play a few times now. He’s pretty good. Time to move on and let the kid start his career. He did something really dumb, mean and selfish as a teenager.

Don’t end his career over it. That’s too punitive.

That doesn’t change the fact that if they accept what they did wrong as such and if there’s a punishment accept it that they deserve a second chance. Maybe sports is unfair past that with repeated chances but I think the first “second” chance can be 100% appropriate.

As long as people are good with “performance” in their personal life things they’ve done wrong in the past are often “forgotten” by others around them. I’m glad the people in my life see past and “forget” my mistakes because they believe I’m a good person.

Zero question that if he made it to say the 3rd round almost every team would have taken him, he's good and the NHL has proven time and time again that talent outweighs morals

I hated the pick from day one and my only hope is he has actually made strides and can become a model for changing the swamp of hockey culture. Much like the Blackhawks situation, fans of any other team kidding themselves into thinking their squad or their favourite players would be above this need a serious reality check
