Post-Game Talk: MTL beats NJ in OT 4-3

It's funny because if we tried going to another board like that we'd get T'd up so fast your head would be spinning. Like Tedenby when he gets freight trained along the boards and loses the puck.

I was only half paying attention for the later stages of the game, but what happened to the winger spot on the top line? I'm assuming Matteau didn't stick for the duration.

There were some weird line changes towards the end of the game. But it looked like Zubrus got a couple of shifts and Tedenby made his way back up.

Josefson may or may not have gotten a couple of shifts, but I feel like that was between changes considering how badly hemmed in he would get playing with Cam & Tedenby

Larsson better be in Tuesday or I really just don't know what the hell this team is doing and I will always hate Cole for that headshot he dished out on Larsson last year.

Cole is a POS. His big mouth lockout activity should have been the final nail to seal him as one of the most unclassiest players in the league if he wasn't already.

Larsson should be in for sure. Time to juggle things a little bit. You can single out Volchenkov, but there were a lot of cones out there tonight. Zidlicky being especially brutal in his own end.

Cole is the type of player that i would have liked to see Stevens absolutely level if he still played haha kind of like Lindros Domi. Zidlicky almost put it in his own damn net tonight as well Salvador looked bad too it was a horrible showing all around defensively.

It was one of those classic Devils games we see every so often where everyone on the team forgets how to clear the zone. Getting pinned in and making it impossible to actually develop any sort of offensive flow.

Thanks for reminding me of Marty's save on Zid! Man that was bad! I think about how awful our PP is anyway, and I don't mind sitting him. Larsson will get that spot next year if Tallinder is still here. Gelinas won't be up. We could use a shakeup with Larsson in the lineup. People blast Deboer for not giving Tedenby a shot, well how about giving Larsson one?

Montreal is the toughest competition the team has faced this season.
They were extremely aggressive on the puck, quick on the breakout.

Hadn't seen too much of that throughout the first 3 games. Everybody came out slow, probably due to the lack of morning skate and different schedule than they've been used to on game days... but they were put on their heels.

It was a good measuring stick for what the goaltending, defense and forwards could handle in a game. And they came pretty close to getting the W

Practices are probably going to pick up a hell of a lot from this point forward. Good measuring stick game for this point in the season.

The good thing is the effort is still there. They aren't executing as well as they would like, but unlike many teams that lose in the Cup finals the year prior, this team is still battling for every puck.

Hahaha i had to if that puck went in I would have lost it. Also I could not agree more i have been vocal about Larsson not getting his chance yet he was our leading point producer on Defense last year. Gelinas was really sharp in the Albany game I saw a couple weeks ago I really like him and I feel he has potential to do great things once the veterans are gone.

The penalty was deserved. That gets called 9 times out of 10, and if you check the replay from the good angle, it was indeed penalty worthy. Forget the "let them play" crap. Playing fair is part of the game; if you break the rules, you get called. Simple as that.

If only it were as simple as that. I saw rule breaking and no calls. That's when it gets frustrating.

This game reminded me a lot of the last Pittsburgh game last year. Only that didn't end in OT. Marty with a giveaway early, then Fleury gave it away. All of the Pens goals were on giveaways, and then you had Kovy missing a wide open net, and shooting it out of play. Much like the off the post tonight. We went on a 7 game winning streak after that lasting until game 2 of the first round against Florida.

Both teams were sloppy in the first minute, but Trav hitting the post in the opening minute might have set the pace. We were awful after that. Many scary giveaways still late in the 3rd too. We're lucky we made it to OT.

I can't see how Larsson sits now. They lost and the D was really shaky, perfect excuse to shake things up.

I'm not buying the Pete doesn't give Tedy enough of a chance crap since he is like the 3rd coach Tedy has had and he hasn't shown anything to any one of them. Fact is ya he is fast, and may develop some finish at SOME point in the unknown future, but he is a liability defensively, and can get pushed off the puck by a stiff breeze. He can't battle on the boards either. He is the perfect example of a player who doesn't fit Pete's system or how the Devil's as a franchise is known to play. He isn't going to earn ice time if he keeps looking like a lost duck in our own zone.

The D was bad because the offense couldn't cycle to save their lives. Defense was in a bad position from the start. Greene had a rough night. I thought Tallinder was the only decent one.

Ya but some of the D guys looked worse then others. Zids had another terrible night, I don't think Volch was that great either. The kid needs playing time, Pete is keeping him up here because he says he plans on using him soon, now is the perfect time to slot him in and give him his shot. I was fine with sitting him because the team was winning and even if it wasn't pretty, makes sense to keep going with what was working. After a lose you try something different when you have that kind of talent sitting in the box.

Just skimmed through the whole game. Josefson was basically directly responsible for 2 goals against tonight.

As it has been said, the whole D crew looked shaky.

Nothing Marty could do on basically any of the goals. And what the hell was Fayne doing on the Gallagher goal?

Only saw the first period, I had to leave but I just watched the highlights. Glad we were able salvage a point but our D was atrocious.

And was the penalty in OT a weak call, or are we just all being butthurt about losing?

It calmed down, but that was the case, yes. If you go in with the arm into the stomach and at that skate into the man so it's a semi-interference it will get called. And funny thing is DeBoer had no problem with the call, he said it was a penalty.

Then Chico made it even worse by whining about Salvador being a little pushed in the back in front of the crease, a move that you see 438756104876510 times per game.

Haha wasn't that goal Zajac's? I kinda wish it was to lower Clarkie's value! As much as this doesn't make sense Clarkson is a pro at scoring these fluky goals. I think we need to lock him up cause he's a perennial 20 goal guy for sure. Even if they're mostly flukes.

It was a gutsy comeback cause for me I thought they were finished after it was 3-1. If we got an OT point playing the piss poor game we played tonight then you can't complain. We can play better than this, and I can't remember any big stops from Price after the 1st period.

According to TG:
Devils’ radio broadcaster Sherry Ross reported that Brian Gionta’s son, Adam, wore a No. 11 Devils T-shirt for his Uncle Stephen under his father’s No. 21 Canadiens jersey during the game.

So adorable.
