Post-Game Talk: MTL beats NJ in OT 4-3

After that horrible start to the game, I didn't expect to get anything. A point is a fine consolation.

My thoughts as well. ****** game, nice way to claw back and get to OT. Kovy post and penalty to end it made it sting though.

OK, we didn't deserve anything but we got 1 point so I'm happy with that.

For next game:
1. Replace one of Zidlicky/Greene/Volchenkov with ADAM LARSSON
2. Start Moose, Marty played fine its just that this is a situation where switching goalies up will help in my opinion
3. Tell Kovy to show some fire

Positives:
-fighting back
-Clarkson putting up 3 points

To be honest I'd rather have the first ****** game now then be pummeled versus Boston.

I expect 4 out of the next 6 points from NJ.

Glad for the point but I'm really worried about Tuesday, Boston always plays us hard and we aren't playing our best yet besides Marty. Just gotta get some selective amnesia about that OT and move on.

lol.. I never really post here much.. but i do follow this board during the games .. Ive been a devils fan since 01... when I moved to Canada.. I love my Devils, to a point that I take alot of BS from the canucks fans here.. just coz I said they are gonna lose to boston doesn't mean I am trolling. I said that based on their play today.. it is what it is.. but i do hope they win every game.. thats what a true fan would wanna see

Look at it this way. Despite how they have looked through 4 games, they have 7 of a possible 8 points.

I definitely want to see Larsson in the next game and maybe Gelinas or Urbom too.

I will watch coz I am a fan.. I watched them play in 10-11 when they had a losing season too .. and even watched them last year when they went to the cup finals..

I could honestly see us drop the next 3 games as well though

I want to see Larsson in but our two worst defenders are mainstays on our power play and PK. Zidlicky stays because of the PP and I don;t think DeBoer would put him in and on the PP in Zidlicky's spot.
Volchenkov has been really bad on our Penalty kill but again, I don;t think PDB puts Larsson out there on the PK in his first game back. With the next game up against the tough Boston Bruins, PDB will want Volchenkov's hitting so I'm not realistically holding my breath. - Maybe we see Larsson on Thursday against the Islanders.

I doubt we'll see Matteau after Tuesday. Better for the kids development...give him a taste of the NHL and send him back to work on a few things.

Henrique was sent to Albany so I wouldn't expect to see him this week.....God help up but I wouldn;t be suprised to see us call up Sestito again......not that I want that....or else we sign Darche

Ya, I wonder if he took it because of the left handed thing. Faceoff was on the left side of the zone. I agree with you, Zajac should always be taking those unless he just came off a long shift.

I can't recall if he just came off a long shift or not so that could easily be the reason. But regardless of which side the faceoff was on, Zajac should have been out there. He was winning draws on both sides of the ice handily tonight. Oh well, cant win them all and if we're going to lose at least we got a point out of it.

They need to get their **** together for Boston though, I expect a much better effort all around.

Matteau looks a little timid out there. He doesn't throw the body as much as he can. Which is okay given the circumstances (18 year old, hometown, etc. etc.)

Didn't even deserve a point. Happy to get that. That's the worst I've seen them play in a while. The D was absolutely horrendous. I want Larsson in there next game. They better clean this up before Tuesday or it's going to be a long night.


Also that penalty was not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. When you get caught out of position on D and are trying to catch up with a player that got behind you, weak holding, slashing, and hooking calls get made all the time.
