But I agree this plan sucks. MSG is perfect where it is. Penn Station's appearance is a worthy sacrifice,

There is nothing like seeing hockey at MSG in the heart of midtown.

Also, moving MSG would require changing it's name since it's no longer near Madison Square - screw that noise. MSG is iconic.

I found this article a proposal last year on a new Garden at West 34th Street, not crazy about the rendering but location isn’t the worst:

Seen these some time ago.
As for the renders, while my preferred style for a landmark is anything but this (prefer Art Deco), I have to admit these look sort of decent. A tinge of brutalism and also remind me of... Unreal (Vortex Rikers?) architecture =P
