FIRE DON SWEENEY INTO THE SUN
Anyone catch that civil war?
Horrific. Worst review I've ever given a movie.
Anyone catch that civil war?
Link?
Watched this yesterday and couldn't finish it.Watched the new Salem’s Lot on Max. Kinda meh. Was disappointed.
Horrific. Worst review I've ever given a movie.
Texas Chainsaw was creepy. Prob would pass. Never watched Saw for the reason you didn't. Rob Zombie's Halloween was ok but the worst of the all the Halloweens. It was too violent Had a terrible rape scene as well. PassQuestion:
I like horror flicks, but don't enjoy meditations on human cruelty or absurdly gratuitous violence. Hence, I have never viewed the
"Saw" franchise, etc.
What do you think of Rob Zombie's "House of a Thousand Corpses" and "Halloween" entries?
Further, I have not been able to bring myself to watch the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (1974), "Last House on the Left (1972), or "The Hills Have "Eyes" (1977).
Have you guys seen any or all of the above? You could probably throw "Straw Dogs" (1971) in there as well.
These films, however cheaply made, are of much greater cinematic significance than the Rob Zombie directed movies.
As with George Romero's original "Night of the Living Dead" (1968), director Toby Hooper's "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" apparently draws upon the American experience with racism and the effects of the Vietnam War.
That's not me talking. That's Romero and Hooper commenting on their work.
What do you think?

Caught Megalopolis
Weird ass movie. Ambitious, occasionally fun, but not all that good I think? Who knows maybe in 50 years ppl will look back and think it’s a masterpiece.
Yeah I felt like I drank a bottle of robitussin. Definitely not boring, I could see it becoming a cult classic tbh…there isn’t anything that I’ve ever seen quite like itFrancis Ford Coppola's MEGALOPOLIS Is a Strange, Enthralling, and Beautiful Mess of Ludicrous Ideas
Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis is a self-contradicting mess of ludicrous ideas that's also a captivating, visually stunning experience.nerdist.com
I wrote this like I was in the middle of a fever dream because that's how the movie made me feel. A crazy piece of art that might totally suck but is never boring.
I finally watched Joker 2 and all I can say is "why?"
Todd Phillips should be blacklisted from ever making another movie
Even when they make a really good movie (Wonder Woman, Joker), the follow ups prove DC Universe is still a rudderless ship (WW 1984, Joker The Musical).
Joker 2 was one of the weakest sequels I've seen in a long time.
DC just hit a grand slam homerun with the Penguin show on Max. Definitely one of the strongest comic book to visual media adaptations in a long time. From what I hear, they're contemplating a Mat Reeves-verse of shows that focus on different villains from Batman's Rogue's Gallery.
DC also has the best animated movies out of the Big Two publishers - we have them playing on rotation here at the shop.
The Penguin is outstanding. Good writing + Great actors = Great content. Why DC can't figure out the Marvel formula is beyond me (not that Marvel is flawless, but Ironman through Endgame is as good as it gets.)
IMO DC shouldn't try to emulate the MCU formula. The heroes are different and thus, the storytelling needs to be different - Marvel has given their lineup of characters more grounded in reality problems that are relatable while DC deals with more mythological figures with god level powers. DC just needs to turn in to what makes their characters great rather than go against the grain of these established characters. Maybe that's why Batman is usually a hit with audiences at the movies since he's their most Marvel-like character. I was strictly a DC reader until my 20's so I'm a little biased when I say this but I am a little perplexed that they can't capture a sustained magic formula outside of the Batman stories.
