Most painful win of the season. LA 8 EDM 2

I guess I truly am classless because I thoroughly enjoyed that game. Just the type of game that will hopefully give the Kings their mojo back.

awesome post by an oiler fan on their board.

Between that GIF and your location, I'm seriously laughing my ass off.

That Sabres team was stacked in 2005-06, and the Kings, not so much. They ended up losing in the Conference Finals in 7 games to the eventual Cup Champs, the Hurricanes.

The box score for that 10-1 drubbing is quite comical,

Seven Sabres had a multi-point game, and that lineup was pretty stacked.

Hell, compare the 2006 Kings to the 2012 Oilers, it is a miracle that the Kings didn't finish dead last that season (they ended up with the 11th pick and that turned out to be the last season for Dave Taylor/Andy Murray).

That was the game after we smoked Boston like 6-0 , wasn't it? The team went into a tailspin after that game and never recovered, with everyone quitting on eachother.

RP is a gritty poster. Gets into dirty areas and takes one for the Kings board.

This is how I try to post...

If I don't lose my editing privileges every once in a while I'm not doing it right.

Lol I was thinking the same thing. I don't feel sorry for no one. I do remember back in the heyday when Gretz and the gang put a beating on us many a times. Anyways just glad for the two points.

I'm sorry for the OT post bump, but Gretz and the Gang sounds like a 1970 disco group, like the hockey version of KC and the Sunshine Band

The Buffalo tankers feel like this towards Edmonton right now.

Like Dustin Brown being +1 at the end of the game?

Just the Mathieu Garon years in general.

Lets hope the Kings have their mojo back, i figured that happened after they won the 3 games in New York

Bunz is a good humored kid who knows his ability. Hopefully that remained intact after his debut ended.

It was painful to listen to that game on the radio. I can't imagine what it was like to watch it.

I feel good and bad at the same time.

Feel so bad for Bunz. Poor kid.

Honestly I don't get the sympathy here...I was at the game and everyone was feeling good about the offensive explosion...after the game I found out it was the kid's first NHL experience. If he has the gumption, he'll be fine; he flubbed up the Gaborik goal but there was nothing he could do about Regehr or Carter, in particular. He had an outstanding save early in the period as well.

He'll be fine.

EDIT: Maybe it was a TV thing...just don't get the sympathy.

Happy for the 2 points, but man the oilers didn't even try.

In my opinion, the Nolan goal took the life out of them. There were times in the late 1st and early 2nd where the Oilers controlled the play and then their goal game them life...after the Nolan goal I saw a team that didn't give a ****; they were going through the motions hoping the clock would run out.

I hope the guys being classy in victory means Edmonton doesn't come out wanting to kick the **** out of us when we play them up there

Glad we played hard and respectfully through the end of the game, props to Edmonton for still going hard, they could easily have shelled up and just played passive D but they stuck to their system as messed up as it is. Feel bad for a lot of those kids, but you can see some of the latent talent, it just has ZERO mentorship.

Yakupov cutting to the net like a god damn torpedo tells me a lot about his character.

I was thinking about this late last night after the game. The talent is incredible on that team. They have absolutely no leadership...where are the crafty vets that they need for mentoring and leadership?

That's why we gave that contract to Greene. My understanding is that he is incredible "in the room." We complain sometimes about the glue guys like Greene, Stoll, Brown, and even Regehr, but these guys are so important for leadership and mentoring that it clearly shows the difference between, say a team that has won two Cups and a team that most certainly should at least be sniffing the playoffs.

LA made Edmonton look really soft.

They have some good pieces but they are lacking that stud goalie and beast defenseman.

Hall and Nuge should be protected.

Edmonton would probably fair better in the east where speed is precedent. The western power houses are just too big and powerfull.

talent aside - do they have any? do they have enough?

the most glaring issue i see with this team is leadership and coaching. the amount of breakdowns EDM makes game after game is just astounding. it isn't one or two, here and there. it is constant in almost every game they play.

was it the Doughty goal? they had 4 players down and no one covering high, or the backside. they are like little kids that get locked in on the puck at the midget/squirt level. they have ZERO structure to their game.

what they need is an Andy Murray teacher/coach. the same way LA needed him, the Oil need a similar coach and transition period for that franchise

they are mess from front office to the 4th line, until change occurs no matter how much talent they have they will continue down this path

I felt terrible for both Scrivens and the kid. I really like Scrivens based on his time here. He deserves better.

That game was pretty much unwatchable after it got to 4-1...

People keep saying how much talent the Oilers have but I'm starting to really question that. None of them seem to have any leadership ability or heart. Generally even the worst teams have guys you can point at and say "he's a heart and soul type". I don't see anybody like that on the Oilers.

Jonathan Quick's first NHL game was against the Sabres which was an 8-2 win at Staples. I only remember because I was at that game. It was Tom Preissing Colorado College alumni night and a co-worker got us back to meet Tom after the game which was one of the highlights of my life. After that, we headed the Lexus Club and found Jonathan Quick hanging out with Jon Zeiler. I remember Quick wasn't drinking (Zeiler was) and realized he wasn't 21 yet. Cool story, Joe!

EDM has 3 good players IMO. Eberle, Hall & Klefbom. Nugent-Hopkins is regressing IMO. They're a mess.

Someone who understands.

Carrying these guys on the roster is not without it's set of problems but if you want to win in the playoffs I am completely convinced that they are necessary.
