Your stats show “streaks” which means if a player has a 0 point game in that stretch their data is not included.

So … I’m looking for the same data, but NOT a streak. Just raw scoring over a stretch of games. I don’t know whether this would be a higher # of goals/points, or lower, or roughly equivalent data. But Draisaitl’s Nashville exploits would show higher than his Vancouver exploits if it were measured appropriately, for example.

Its kind of funny that these stats dont include Draisaitl’s dominance vs. Nashville because he is not actually on a “streak” , he has 0 point games. He just scores at an unbelievable rate in the other games. Is there a way to refine the stat so it’s not necessarily a “streak” but just whoever has the highest pure production over a consecutive stretch of games?

Obviously it’s still Gretzky, but it would be fun to see the difference between his streaks and his pure highest output.
He showed you best production over a 20 game stretch in the first chart.

You should never use ChatGPT for factual information. ChatGPT is not "AI," it is a language learning model. It looks at things that have been fed into it and then spits out something that looks like it would fit into the data set. It will present 'facts' to you that are completely fabricated, and it will do this basically all the time.

If you ask ChatGPT how much toothpaste you should eat to get your recommended daily intake of toothpastium, it will probably tell you to consume at least two full tubes to maintain a balanced diet.
Not quite right. It won't always present false information. In fact, I'd argue that's the biggest issue with LLMs. There is no difference in how it presents 100% valid information to how it presents 100% false information, or anything in between.

I can tell people they can use ChatGPT as a Google substitute, and it's not an entirely bad (although widely irresponsible) idea.

correct correct, thank you both.

I guess what I want to see is that EXACT chart but just for Goals instead of points? Draisaitls 16 assists in 16 games is nice but not exceptional. The goals component is what is near the top.

I think what you are grasping for is that Oilers haters are stupid and the Oilers are a good team outside McDavid.
Its pretty evident how much the team defaults to him when he is in there. This is the first game they've looked good all season.

Honestly, it should start the ass backwards conversation of if theyre better off without him. Trade him for a kings random, attach Nurse to the deal, and actually have come out on top.

So those statements about Gretzky are inaccurate?

So with 26 in 16 Draisaitl just needs 3 more in the next 4 games to catch everybody but Gretzky and original 6 era stars. If he somehow gets 6 in the next 4 that’d match Gretzky’s best.

Not even close to Gretzky pace. Perhaps Gretzky pace in the 80s against every team, but he was putting up 4+ PPG in similar stretches against some teams.
Last 10 games against the Preds. Go look at Leon's Stats. Its pretty much Gretzky pace

Draisaitl is really close to this record in his last 17gp vs. the Preds, and being at an assist per game hes gotta be pretty high in points against one team too.

Is there a gold standard for dominating one team in a 20 game stretch, or a 5 year period, or over a career?

Gordie Howe has the most against one team in a career against the Blackhawksz but we'll never see numbers like that again due to 32 team era.

Without looking it up I say 99 in the 80s against Vancouver

**Edit*

Looked it up

99 played 117 games against Vancouver and got 76 goals and 163 assists

Honestly, it should start the ass backwards conversation of if theyre better off without him. Trade him for a kings random, attach Nurse to the deal, and actually have come out on top.
That would be a dumb idea but arm chair gms gonna do their thing I guess.

Points now? Shocker Wayne again.

The NHL record for most consecutive games with a point against the same team is held by Wayne Gretzky, who recorded points in 51 straight games against the Quebec Nordiques from 1981 to 1987. This remarkable streak is a testament to his dominance in the league.

The record for the most points against the same team in NHL history is held by Wayne Gretzky, who accumulated 250 points (including 100 goals and 150 assists) in 73 games against the Quebec Nordiques. This impressive total showcases his dominance over that particular franchise during his career.
Wayne Gretzky played 73 regular season games against the Quebec Nordiques. In those matchups, he scored a remarkable 50 goals, making it a record for the most goals scored against a single team in NHL history.

Thats what chatgbt told me.

The NHL record for most consecutive games with a goal against the same team is held by Wayne Gretzky. He scored in 14 straight games against the New York Islanders from 1980 to 1983. This impressive streak highlights his exceptional scoring ability during his career.

Man chatgpt is confused. Howe handily beats those two "records" thanks to playing in the 6 teams era.

169goals in 316 games against the Blackhawks
360points in 316 games against the Rangers.

Back to Wayne, those nordiques "records" are completely made up. He played 51 games against the nordiques/avalanche. 38-94-132 in those 51 games. His actual top scoring is 79 goals in 105gp against the Jets/Coyotes and 239 points in 117 games against the Canucks.

Obviously from a franchise POV, he brings more value to your team because of who he is. If they win, thats a bonus.

But lets pretend the Oilers go on a 10 game streak while he is gone looking amazing. He comes back and they crash down to looking like crap again.

The conversation will begin. You can move him for your Heiskanen or Faber or anyone you want basically and also get picks and prospects added on, in theory maybe improving your team overall with really good pieces vs one amazing one.

Would make for an interesting armchair debate.

Had to double check because it really made no sense lmao. Wayne played one season in the same conference(95-96 in the first season of the Avs). Let's just say stats isn't AIs forte it seems.

Alright, this seems to be a points focused thread, but since you specifically said 17 games, let me introduce you to the tale of Antero Niittymäki against the Atlanta Thrashers:
So you're saying he became vesatoskular against the Thrashers?

Its pretty evident how much the team defaults to him when he is in there. This is the first game they've looked good all season.
Maybe it's his playstyle, I mean he is faster and plays at a higher pace than anyone so you can't just keep up with him, either as the opponent or the Oilers. You have to let him do his thing and just build around that, if you make him slow down to the speed of his teammates it negates his biggest advantages.

100%. Hes the most talented player in the league, but wow they looked great without him finally playing as a team.
