Paul Coffey would have to be up there, would he not? Let's see, I've got:

1. Wayne Gretzky
2. Glenn Anderson
3. Mark Messier
4. Jari Kurri
5. Mike Rogers
6. Kent Nilsson

7. Mario Lemieux
8. Rob Brown
9. Charlie Simmer
10. Kevin Stevens
11. John Cullen
12. Mark Recchi
13. Barry Pederson
14. Jaromír Jágr
15. Bryan Trottier
16. Joe Mullen
17. Ron Francis

18. Luc Robitaille
19. Dave Taylor

20. Steve Yzerman
21. Dino Ciccarelli
22. Sergei Fedorov
23. John Ogrodnick

24. Eric Lindros
25. Dale Hawerchuk

26. Doug Gilmour

27. Joe Thornton

(Coffey never played with Tocchet in Pittsburght, right?)

Think Coffey missed the 100 point version of Ogrodnick in Detroit by a decade.

I had Murphy at 27. Maybe I'm making a mistake here:

Larry Murphy
  1. Marcel Dionne
  2. Dave Taylor
  3. Charlie Simmer
  4. Bernie Nicholls
  5. Mike Gartner
  6. Neal Broten
  7. Brian Bellows
  8. Dennis Maruk
  9. Bobby Smith
  10. Mark Recchi
  11. John Cullen
  12. Paul Coffey
  13. Kevin Stevens
  14. Jagomir Jagr
  15. Mario Lemieux
  16. Joe Mullen
  17. Bryan Trottier
  18. Rob Brown
  19. Rick Tocchet
  20. Markus Naslund
  21. Luc Robitaille
  22. Ron Francis
  23. Mats Sundin
  24. Doug Gilmour
  25. Brendan Shanahan
  26. Steve Yzerman
  27. Sergie Fedorov
He was traded with Murphy, but that wouldn't matter, because they were teammates in Washington and in Minnesota.

Rob Brown was traded shortly after Murphy was traded to the Penguins, but I'd still count him, because they weren't traded for each other; as long as they were both on the Penguins the same year.

Same with Maruk in Minnesota, even if their games don't line up, they both still played for the North Stars that year that Murphy (and Gartner) were traded there.
bellows got 99 points, never 100. I had 26 for Murphy.

That's a pretty phenomenal list, btw. Roberts having done that, with only one of the Islanders (Trottier) and Oilers (Coffey) players on board! Great start with the Whalers too.

The best comp that I could come up with (to Roberts) would be Steve Konroyd at 24.

Think Coffey missed the 100 point version of Ogrodnick in Detroit by a decade.
It's crazy to me that Coffey was (a) a teammate of Joe Thornton and (b) coached by Paul Maurice.

Unfortunately, Coffey wasn't there for the Oilers' first NHL season. Otherwise, we could have said he was a teammate of Dave Dryden (started 1962) and Joe Thornton (ended 2022).

gordie roberts, nice one. i was eyeballing him on the 91 penguins roster but never thought to use his WHA days

i also had no idea he played for the blues for several years between minny and pittsburgh.

edit: nor the whalers in the NHL, now that i’m looking at his hockey-ref. for whatever reason i always thought he was on the north stars for the entire 80s. but i think maybe i was getting him mixed up with curt giles.

Mike Sillinger (17):

Yzerman
Fedorov
Ciccarelli
Coffey

Kariya
Selanne

Mogilny
Bure
Naslund
Messier

Lindros
Recchi

Janney
Lecavalier

Hossa
Alfredsson

Weight

Sillinger you'd figure would be a lot higher given how much he moved around but missing out on the Penguins and Flames of the time really puts a damper on things lol

The other guy who was passed around quite a bit is the same story, not as much as you'd expect, Brent Ashton (though shorter career for him)
  1. Broten
  2. Ciccarelli
  3. Maruk
  4. Smith
  5. Stastny
  6. Goulet
  7. Yzerman
  8. Oates
  9. Hawerchuk
  10. Janney
  11. Juneau
  12. Pederson
  13. Fleury
  14. MacInnis

(traded to Detroit for Ogrodnick so doesn't count)

Think Coffey missed the 100 point version of Ogrodnick in Detroit by a decade.

Ogrodnick stopped by again in Detroit at the end of his career during 1992-1993 too lol

well @pnep just finished the topic lol (although that list seems to require a game together which is stricter than the criteria we've been using)

Barry Pederson. Well, that's that, it's Gordie Roberts for 1st. :)

I appreciate your work, but I think some of these have to be off (unless I'm WAY off). [edited to add] I guess I'm way off. My notes line up with a bunch of these.

Great job!

@pnep can you give the games breakdown for Tikkanen please?

probably one of the guys during the year he went from St Louis to Jersey to Vancouver that he didn't actually be on the roster at the same time

Thanks! It was Mike Rogers who joined the Oilers as Tikkanen was out in December and didn't hang on long enough for Tikkanen to make it back in February lol
