Rielly's suspension should have been for more games. I would have given him 10 games.

To anyone thinking "Greig showed poor sportsmanship", I am here to tell you that it actually doesn't matter what Greig did.

Greig did something that hurt no one, except maybe some players feelings and fans feelings.

What Greig did is really no different than a player who enthusiastically celebrates a goal.

Does every player who celebrates a goal deserve a cross-check to the head?

Think about this objectively, leaving feelings out of it, and you can see that Rielly deserved a very long suspension.
Greig was taunting at the end of a game and got laid out for it. But it's obvious you're ignoring that lol

Hahahaha at people thinking this was getting 10 games or more

Should've been less than 5 games tbh

That didn’t at all explain away why others received zero games from a safety perspective. It literally leads you to believe you are free to cross check to the head if “jousting”. The conclusion from this is that the league does not care about player safety, they care about optics.

I won’t argue that the DOPS doesn’t care enough about safety. But in terms of potential for injury the Morgan cross check does have higher potential than many of these false equivalence cross checks posted to defend Reilly. The DOPS surprisingly got this one right for a change. Does that mean they’ll be consistent going forward? No. Does that that mean they haven’t messed up in the past? No. But the right call was made here or close to it.

There hasn’t been a single player that hasn’t agreed with what Rielly did. Numerous examples have been shown to you. The data shows how Parros deals with suspensions when the leafs are involved.

You chose to ignore it

NHL players agreed that some sort of response was warranted. Most would say getting Greig to answer the bell. Not some cowardly blind side cross check to the head risking serious injury.

What Data shows that Parros is unfair to the Leaf’s. Using false equivalencies does not back the data if that’s what you are going to use.

Taunting is something Auston Matthews does 50% of the time or more every time he scores a goal. Especially late goals that clinch or win the game.

Does Auston Matthews deserve to get cross-checked in the head after scoring such goals?

How would you feel if Auston Matthews was on the receiving end of what happened to Greig?

Matthews over-celebrates, puts his hand up to his ear, etc, many times when he scores.

Maybe someone should cheap-shot him?

I don't recall the Sens ever trading a 1st round pick for a rental. Even going back 25 years.

Unlike the Leafs, who got *checks notes* 0 goals in 11 games from Nick Foligno for a 1st round pick.
oh sorry forgot Chychrun is still there, but DeBrincat might as well been a rental. traded high value for him and sold for cheap

Going after someone for scoring a goal breaks "The Code" even more so than Greig's exuberant ENG.

No question.

Still worth it.

If Leafs miss the playoffs because Rielly missed 5 games, the root problem with the Leafs has nothing to do with why he missed those 5 games.

I doubt Leafs will miss the playoffs, though of course it’s possible. If it happens I won’t be pointing any fingers at Rielly.
No instead you will point it at the empty net. It's feelings were hurt by the slap shot.

What are your examples for arrests for crosschecks?

Tons of analysts have said 5 games is excessive. What are you talking about. Are you just making stuff up? Bieksa said 2-3.

I never said arrests for cross checks. So I will be ignoring your straw man.

Freidman thought 4-6. Let’s get a spread sheet together and gather all the predictions then we can settle this.

if Matthews did that he should got punched in the face. Rielly is a coward for what he did, he should have dropped the gloves and punched Greig in the face for that disrespectful shit.

you go back to any era of the NHL and no one gets away with that
