Obviously Ridley Grieg did not have to slap the puck in the net in such a way...but that does not give the right or justification Morgan to physically assault Ridley after the play was over. If the NHL really cared about player safety Morgan would get a 15+ game suspension at minimum, Morgan should also not be suprised if he faces criminal charges.

OK, I’ll spell it out for you. Deliberately hitting a person in the head with a stick is a clear sign of intent to injure. There is no other reason to hit a person in the head with your stick.

You can go on and on about this code but there is no code around this. I’ve played enough hockey and seen this enough times to know. When this happened to me we laughed it off and called the persona tool. What we didn’t do is attack him for something that was our fault.

Using the code is just an excuse to act like a baby.
