Maybe next time try responding with some physicality in the game?
Dumb plays after the game is over don’t send a message to anyone.
It does send a message. It says you cannot pull that kind of shit against the Leafs. And you literally have the team (and others) supporting Mo. He's getting suspended no doubt. But from a leafs perspective, it's worth. Season is kinda a wash so time to get angry about it.

Reilly embarrassed himself. Grieg looks like a goof for clapping into an empty net but Reilly makes a complete idiot of himself by getting so triggered by it and likely getting himself suspended.

When they respond physically they get suspended and there is a parade to the box. They have tried it in the playoffs and it just ends up trying to kill penalties all series long.

Like when Clifford got suspended 7 minutes into game 1. They've dug themselves a hole apparently when it comes to Parros.

It's like play soft or pay the price.

Guarantee Benoit will be next.
Playing physical doesn’t mean dumb retaliatory slashes and cross checks. Until the Leafs learn that they will face suspensions and justifiably so.

I disagree. A dumb cross check when the game is over sends no message.

I’m still looking forward to someone explaining how this isn’t exactly Hunter on Turgeon with some extra stick.

He literally tracked then attacked an unsuspecting player with a vicious cross check to the head after he had scored.
I’m supposed to believe that “yeah but you see he took a slapshot” is some sort of mitigating factor?

I mean it’s on Hockey Night in Canada. Hockey ops is already aware of it. No need to push conspiracy theories.
Just no need for him to do it in all honesty. Doesn't with any of the other teams apparently. Not sure why he felt the need to do it with the Leafs.

Just another example of the media being so pro-Leafs imo. Isn't that what is always said?

What a fragile, soft, wimpy team.

Rielly didn't like how a shot was taken (on an empty net, no less).

Throw the book at him.

They probably will. "look, see? we give a shit about crosschecks to the head sometimes, because you media people are actually paying attention on this one"

That's how this is going to go down.

And Mo' is gonna be the guy that immediately says he let his teammates down out of a moment of frustration...............

That's my prediction. How can they not be soft if they can't get away with any sort of violence? No matter how insignificant?

I don't care for either team. Here is my take that no one cares about.

The slapshot on a empty net is beer league as hell.
Half of me understands the crosscheck to the head. Other knows its not okay.
I guess what I'm saying is. If you wanna get crosschecked in the head. Slapshot a empty netter 10 ft away.

But do they?

WTF are the "tough guys" doing. Nothing. We'd benefit from them getting suspended.

Mo f***ed up here.
It's never been about tough guys, they're useless players. It's about team passion and Mo displayed it here. I will give props to Mo and the team better show up for him when he's gone.

And every other sport handles it like Rielly did.

If a player jogs too slowly after hitting a home run the benches clear sometimes.

The NFL will give you a 15 yard personal foul if you stand over a player after hitting him, or celebrate in an opponent's face.

Stop acting like this is just a hockey thing.

He didn't stand over anyone. This is the difference between Mutumbo wagging his finger at players and Mutumbo wagging his finger at no one in particular. And a player jogging too slowly causing a brawl is ridiculous too but way more hot dogging than take a slap shot rather than a wrist shot into the empty net. That's closer to what Deshaun Jackson did in his famous punt return to win the game against the Giants where he ran along the goalline without going in. And nothing happened to him.

What’s the deal with cross checking Ottawa players? Perron, now Rielly. Maybe there’s something wrong with Ottawa? Maybe hideous logo or just because they have Human Rights Museum?

He hit the shoulder first. They even talked about it on the HNIC panel. He hit the shoulder and then it rode up to the head.
I don’t think principle point of contact is exactly a huge playing factor, the fact is he went out and cross-checked an unsuspecting player up high.

This isn’t an in the play fast moving sequence of events here like a huge hit with a bunch of moving parts where I can see principle point of contact having a major factor.

You are to be in control of your stick at all times, even more so if you’re maliciously targeting someone with it. Greig is unsuspecting and standing up skating slowly and Mo goes up to him and decks him. He could have cross checked his rib, his pants, hell- even fight him. But he decided to make a rare dumb play that was even shittier than what Greig did.

If you high stick someone after someone stick lifts you it’s still a double minor regardless. Same should apply here.

They didn't all get suspended for dumb retaliatory slashes and cross checks. If they did, it would be so much easier to understand. The Leafs, being the absolute softest team in the NHL also lead the NHL in suspensions.

That's cool as f***. Apparently every other team understands it but just not the Leafs. Despite churning through 100 odd players in that time.

Anywho, it matters not. Parros will not let this opportunity slide. We'll see a lengthy one for sure.
