Morgan Rielly cross check to the head of Ridley Greig (DOPS UPDATE: In Person Hearing - 6 games or more possible)

I will tell you one thing. If the Leafs get that upset from just a slap shot into an empty net, then they will probably never win a cup.
If anything this will light a fire under their ass. Especially from all the support Mo is receiving. It's like, finally! Leafs have a pulse

Ahhhh ok, so like a really light version of Domi's elbow on Neidermeyer.

1 game for a clean player first time offender times 3 for being a Maple Leaf.

3 games is my guess.

Was a crosscheck to the face appropriate? No. Absolutely not. Given the complete lack of priors but also given the Parros Leafs tax, I would say he gets 4 games.

I would also expect a scrum or a facewash or a light shove as a more appropriate response. Imagine it's a football game and your team is leading, 10 seconds left, you have possession and the other team has no timeouts left. Do you kneel out the clock, or do you fake knee and then uncork a TD pass? What Grieg did was tantamount to the latter and that would at least draw a lot of chirping or shoves in any sport. It's just a basic "don't be a sore winner, because you never know when your team is gonna be on the other side of it" thing. It's not a hockey thing, it's in every sport.

Again, just to clarify, Rielly's response was way over the line and well beyond inappropriate. But if roles were reversed and Gregor or Kampf took an empty net clapper from in close, I would definitely expect them to catch heat for it.

Maybe next time try responding with some physicality in the game?
Dumb plays after the game is over don’t send a message to anyone.

Scoring an empty net goal.

Crosscheck to the head.

Only one of these is a "circus act" apparently, and the answer might surprise you.
No argument here- it was a vicious cross check that will get him suspended

But the way that Greig scored that empty netter would have gotten him a fist to the mouth from 30 other teams, including Tampa. Lightening fans would be the first to mock Greig. So cut the BS

I have no problem with the slap shot empty net goal, and no problem with a reaction by Reilly. You have to know someone is coming after "putting on a show" like that, whether it's that game or the next several.

That said, high hit, intent to injure, and he'll likely get a game or two for it. If I were Leafs management I'd happily pay whatever fine and make up whatever wages he loses. And would respect the hell out of him if I were his teammate.

Elliotte Freidman tagging NHL player safety is just typical of him. First time he's done it? Although I think he also did it to push for the Matthews suspension.

But do they?

WTF are the "tough guys" doing. Nothing. We'd benefit from them getting suspended.

Mo f***ed up here.

They probably wouldn’t have seen it if he hadn’t tagged then either!

It’s great that Rielly showed some emotion. He is the only one who cares and it shows every playoffs. Other primas, not so much. That’s why they won’t do shit in playoffs, rinse and repeat.

The Leafs are officially the softest team in the league.

Throwing a temper tantrum and getting suspended because the opponent shot the puck too hard into your net.

Clown franchise, no wonder they can never make it far in the playoffs.

When they respond physically they get suspended and there is a parade to the box. They have tried it in the playoffs and it just ends up trying to kill penalties all series long.

Like when Clifford got suspended 7 minutes into game 1. They've dug themselves a hole apparently when it comes to Parros.

It's like play soft or pay the price.

Guarantee Benoit will be next.

Rielly and the Coach should get 5 games for this bullshit.

Don't want a guy to send a clapper into an empty net? Try putting a goalie in next time, losers.
