Can teams "make whole" a player that was suspended and thus lost money for this?

I do remember Georges Laraque saying he was made whole in such a situation, but that was eons ago.

 Comparing what happened with Greig to Hunter/Turgeon shows you don't have much of a grasp on things.
Just take the L and move on instead of this constant doubling down.
You are actually in the minority here buddy with your views.

So it is you who should be taking an L for your failure to accurately assess what happened.

99% of people, other than Maple Leafs fans, see Rielly's play for what it was. A very dirty cheap-shot to the head. All because a player slapshot the puck into an empty-net.

What Greig did didn't warrant a cross-check to the head.

If you think it does, then it is no use debating this with you because you are clearly wrong.

The fact that he's "surprised" there's an in person hearing for a two handed to the face means he has his head faaaar up his arse.
I can see why you'd think that if you're naïve enough to believe everything coaches/players say is what they actually believe.

On top of the $400k of salary he is about to lose… he has to pay for the gas to drive downtown for the meeting
Rielly can always appeal the suspension. Of course Gary won't get around to hearing his appeal until after Reilly's already served the suspension and it will get turned down anyway.

But he can appeal it!

Please ask any nhler that you can and see what they say about the zegras and greig stuff.

Nobody is gonna target him unless he does something stupid like that against their team. And it doesn’t matter what team it is…if he does it…he’ll get attacked.
You've been brain-washed by watching Don Cherry too much on Leafs TV.

what a stupid narrative, Simmonds didn't even have the puck so what the hell are you even talking about. Simmonds was just standing there. They are both egregious, but i find it amusing that i can find a number of instances where Leafs players were hit with dirty shit and no suspension or even a fine.

The reverse it seems the leafs never get away with those types of things.
Neither did Greig, so what's your point?

The narrative was pretty simple. One was close to play, the other was 19 years after the goal. Pretty f***ing easy to understand.

Nope his money goes to the PA assistantance fund.

So he said it just to look like an idiot? Because the deflections on the Leafs looking crappy Saturday have been made aplenty with this incident. Is he trying to take some heat for Reilly? Because....why bother, he has an in person hearing.

What's the benefit of saying something like that?

I mean, for all I care, Rielly could've face-washed Greig after scratching his sweaty butt with his gloves on and I wouldn't care about much about it.

But he wouldn't get suspended, and Greig would be significantly less likely to repeat, since he's not getting anything from it, other than a sniff at the sweaty butt of an opponent.

A crosscheck to the head is a big no-no.

That was a pretty chicken s**t thing to do. Not sure why it mattered whether he wristed it in or slapped it into the net. That was a pretty low key play to be a crybaby about.
Agreed. I don't know why he cried under the shield of a trainer. If he wanted a tissue he could have asked for one in the dressing room.

That would be good if you'd stop responding because you clearly can't comprehend what is being said.
Not one person (that I've seen) feels that Rielly shouldn't be suspended.

So… a bounty for injuring other players then?

Right, which is what I was replying to, a thread of posts that started with someone suggesting Greig would receive extra attention in the next few games because of what he did against Toronto, which is of course absurd.
