Player Discussion Morgan Geekie

The Geekie - Pasta connections not oneni expected. Big fan of it though. I'd love to keep him around for a few more seasons

Throw in two good top 6 players with Zacha, Pasta, Mittelstadt and Geekie and I think they're playoff contenders again as long as the defense and goaltending are healthy and playing up to their capabilities.

This is the perfect time to audtion Geekie as the 2nd line RW'er.

Quite the trajectory for Geek, this year thanks largely to Pasta but he's still having a great Year none the less.
Big off season for Sweeney in so many different ways!

Geekie doesn’t drive a line - just like Wayne Cashman didnt, but he reads his linemates so well

It’s always about the steak but I need a really good baked potato to compliment it

Geekie goes super well - as does Lindholm.

Pastrnak is a line driver and scorer but he is an elite playmaker - Geekie has ‘it’ in finding Ice

I would certainly go 5.5 x 5

I would do 5.5x5 for sure. It looks like a high number but in a rapidly rising cap I think his market value could be as high as 7m.

The sticker shock this year could be eye popping. If he wants a long term deal lock him in, don. You gotta do something right to get 30 goals in this league. Also, they can’t really afford to lose him.

we used to pay Coyle that much

he was worth it after what he showed in 2019, but we can definitely afford a hair more for Geekie now

the one thing we need to be wary of his locking guys up that see inflated stats from playing with elite guys.

But geekie has the it factor in the other areas so Im not concerned.

If Sweeney gets him signed for that im all in, but I'm not sure that Geeks camp would be willing, especially with the money he just threw at Lindholm only a year ago who Geekie has vastly out performed this year and moving for ward Geek value to the bruins is imo higher than lindholm.

This off season from the draft on should be pretty eventful, and more consequential, and significant for the future of the Bruins than any other year during Sweeney tenure.

I went from thinking Geekie is mostly a product of Pastrnak, to now thing Geekie is a great compliment to Pastrnak and they benefit from each other greatly.

I think he’s starting to hit his potential.

I was thinking 18 mil 4 years, but they have to make a big decision. I have always liked the player, but did not see this coming. Lindholm is not a first line center, and I do not believe after couple of games together it changes.

Im with you on them benefiting with each other, but Pasta is so great , that he can elevate a players game like few can. Geek without Pasta is merely a 20 goal score at best, Pasta without him has already proven he's one of the best in the world.

Don't see Geekie camp agreeing to that. He's played himself into a 6.5 mil per year plus deal with term, anything longer than 2 years.
