I think Stevens fought Beck when he was a rookie. I was like wow. He was also scorer back then. You don't win all those cups with Stevens dominating minutes if he can't make a quality first pass. Now you and I may look at that pass in different ways. For me that first pass will often be one of the shortest passes. Needs to be tape to tape in stride (unless the guy is standing on the boards).
All Bill "Big Whistle" Chadwick ever wanted from Barry was to shoot the puck Barry! Shoot the puck!
Beck is still involved with Hockey at the Hong Kong Academy of ice hockey.

Barry was so cool. Bill had a tiny short lived Viacom cable TV show. I called in as a 10th grader asking if Barry Beck was as good as Potvin. I was so disappointed when Bill said no. Then I went to my high school hockey game. Guys in the locker room were cracking up. They recognized my voice over the TV lol 😂

if Cooper actually gets fired that's who the Rangers should hire and there shouldn't even be a second thought. sign him right away.
He's absolutely what we need but 1) He's not getting fired. Not a chance. 2) He only signed a 1 year extension. Levitate posted this for context.

Paul Maurice is my pipe dream hire for NYR. I'm convinced he's the best coach in the sport. Understands playoff and winning hockey to a tee. No easy ice defensively. Every play is hard gapped and highly-contested. Offensive players have freedom to create and they forecheck with force. Team full of nail guns with skill who will beat you up and take your lunch money. His system fits their personnel perfectly. Always a treat to listen to him speak as well. He's decisively out-coached Jon Cooper since arriving in Florida IMO.
Retweet. What a masterclass by Florida, just manhandling Tampa two postseasons in a row. Maurice, the retread of retreads, shows Cooper what winning hockey looks like yet again. NYR need a transformation similar to what the Panthers went thru when Maurice was hired.

They better trade for a Tkachuk and find a Forsling then. A couple Bennetts and verhaege’s off the scrap heap too. Coaching was a tiny factor for Florida. Maurice just got out of the way. Coach Q would’ve won the cup after those roster moves if he wasn’t fired.

I want Svechnikov in a blueshirt. No idea if that's even a remote possibility but he's the type of core piece who can drive winning hockey. Find me skilled nail guns who can skate and make plays. I'm moving Laf and other assets if that gets it done. Look at Florida's style of game. That's winning hockey to a tee. They pound and smother you all over the ice with elite skill and depth throughout their lineup. Coaching is certainly not a tiny factor for Florida. Maurice's style dictates play and he's smart enough to make adjustments. They play the same way regardless of the score.

Are we gonna pretend that Florida starting to beat Tampa in the playoffs doesn’t directly coincide with Tampa’s depth going on an aggressive downswing? This is what they rolled out last night…

That fourth line is very meh and they've been playing 7D for some time. A lack of a 2nd line RW is a giant hole. Gage Gonclaves is not a 2 LW either. Hard to be competitive without a 2nd line. FLA blue line is also >>> TBL's. FLA deserves credit as well. Marchand, Sturm, Jones were three big pickups. Even Vitacek for their backup position was a savvy pickup.

The reason they didn't have a 2nd line in the series is because Hagel/Bjorkstrand got hurt. The depth looks much better if you add both of them in.

Florida was putting out a second line with Samoskevich/J. Boqvist (or Rodrigues/Luostarainen who put up 32/24 points in the year depending which line you call 2nd) in March too when they had two top six guys out (Marchand/Tkachuk).
