I agree except that last sentence. Should be "could actually become" - but they need NHL playing time to get better than Ehlers, Pionk, etc.

My best case scenario is that Maurice gets canned and Vincent gets promoted. I've said it for years already - I think he is also good with players, but he has the added bonus of actually being smart (instead of being good at bullshitting like PMo).

I see Vincent as the real reason our prospects have been doing well - Maurice doesn't know how to make players better, that's just not his gift. It seems to me that Vincent is much better at understanding his players, where they're at, and how to get more out of them while maintaining a healthy relationship with them.

And on those points, about Vincent and his qualities, that is why he probably will not man the Jets bench, in the NHL anytime soon. Vincent is a high quality developmeng ciach. Teaching positioning, systems, teammate awareness in what opponent is doing in front of you, etc. TN/Jets management will not want to lose this in the Moose or the whole development system us set back. Vincent would be treading in new waters of trying to ciach seasoned veterans and professional attitudes, more so than ever on the Moose.
I don't agree with holding Vincent back but propably is a very valid reason to the way the Jets hirerarchy operate. Similar to Chevy signing handful of has-been or reclamation project vets every yesr, over playing your youngsters who actually possess the higher grade skills needed for team progression, success and more winning, etc.

Yeah it is very different working with kids who are hungry to move up to the NHL then it is to work with established players with multimillion guaranteed contracts.

He is perfect where he is right now. But I do think he has a better mind for the game then Moe and is very good at working with players to improve. I think the main team could use some individual coaching on playing well within the systems.

Just caught the Moose game. Great effort by the team out there and totally dominated the game.

Congrats to Comrie on getting the record. I have always had a soft spot for him as a prospect, by all accounts he is terrific person who works his ass off so this record is well deserved. While he wasn't busy he had to make some big saves when the Moose where only up by one. He had a good night tonight.

Perfetti: This kid just learns so damn quickly. He was full marks for his three points tonight and easily could have had another couple. He is just an offensive chance generator that also pushes the play out of his end and into the offensive end at an extremely high level. The kid just understands spacing incredibly well and knows what he is going to do before he gets the puck. He has things to work on but really he can be as good as he wants to be. He has an incredibly rare combination of all world IQ and talent. He is also well ahead on his play without the puck and in his end of where you would typically expect a junior offensive star to be.

Heinola: Started slowly and it took him a period and a bit to work himself into the game. Looked really good in all facets the back half of the game. He is just in good position all around the ice and is silky smooth with the puck. He is very good at incorporating missdirection into his game which will be an asset with our forwards. He will be on the team next season and work his way into the top 4 imo.

Chisholm: Had himself a game. He was very good defensively and was moving the puck extremely well up the ice. He jumped into the play at the appropriate times and really added to the teams attack. He was also doing better at getting his shot on target tongiht.

Samberg: Tonight was a much better game from him. He was very good in his own end at shutting things down along the boards and in front of the net. Much better gap control and he was managing the puck really well tonight and making very good passes in all three zones. I liked that he showed some confidence to try things offensively.

Kovacevik: Just another real solid all around game from him. Another Moose player who could see NHL game action next year.

Reichel: Had his best game of the year. He had a number of great looks and was very good at linking up with Cole on the transition and in the offensive end tonight.

Gus: Plays just a real steady and quiet all around game. He is positionally sound and hard on pucks and finds himself in the right positions all over the ice. I think he is going to be a real important support piece for the team moving forward and to me looks a lot like Copp.

Vincent just continues to do such a good job with these players. He has the team playing pretty good all around hockey.

I"'ll say it here. Chisholm is not to be overlooked in potential long NHL career and a solid one at that.
He is a "sleeper pick" later round draft pick but with Vincent letting him play to his skills while learning how to play against bigger, tougher, quicker, smarter and faster opponents, of NA pro level. His reactions, timing, adjustments, positioning and gap control are advancing every few games as he gains familiarity.
He is showing learned system deployment and what is required. Later season is showing his own qualities as a player coming out and he is impressing all.
Nothing spectaculaf but veth steady, solud and proving he belongs at this level.
He is a smart puck mover with very good offensive skills and skating. He uses his puck skills and skating wisely to defend, with progression toward handling the physicality.
I was thrilled ( tempor that with hope) when Jets selected him and where he was picked does not matter as much as how he is progressing and advancing in the AHL this early on.
He reminds me of Duncan Keith type player.
Hope he progresses to next level, NHLJets and begins tk charter a career like Duncan Keith!Jrts could be set internally for a very strong base of developed defenders in a couple seasons.
Heinola, Samberg, Stanley, Chisholm, Kovacevic, Landmark, Gawanke. Not bad possible future!

Yeah I have been pretty high on Chisholm for a while now. I think he has top 4 upside.

Very good points and I see that the Jets overall could use some better " working with the players in-season, coaching team structure, systems play and all that, under Head coach, Maurice.
I am not sure why or what, but I think Jets need a new Defense coach. Huddy has run his course here and I don't any improved team structure defending happening. I think Dave Lowry infusion is a positive tiward thus, but J still don'tvlike tgeir oveall defensive structure. If Maurice is more "hands-off" in actual practises then it must be mostly on Huddy to coach the defenders!
And who coaches the goalies/ defenseman interaction with handling pucks off the boards or behind net or net-front areas? Jets/ Hellebuyck are mostly terrible with this! 'Mickey Mouse' scenarios and losing some important games is prevailling from this weakness.

I really like Vincent, and I like how players have developed under his tutelage. But I don't see much in his coaching record with the Moose that makes him a sure-fire bet as a winning NHL coach. He's had some pretty talented Moose teams, and mediocre results. Maybe he's focused more on development than winning, though.

Yeah we have seen Lowry's impact on the PK this year and I would bet if given the reigns to the defense as well we'd make some pretty big improvements in terms of adherence to systems. I would move out Huddy and bring in a skill development coach to work one on one with our players.

Let Lowry handle the PK and defense and Kompton the forwards and PP.

He's 100% focused more on development then winning so its hard to judge his record. The org has come out and said numerous times that the Moose only exist to develop players for the Jets.

He does have an AHL and QMJHL coach of the year awards so it seems like he has been recognized as a quality coach in more then one league.

I would be curious to know how he'd coach if allowed to come up with his own systems. From what I recall his Q teams were generally fairly balanced in terms of offense and defense. No idea what systems he used though.

Another game against Stockton today. Toninato called up so Perfetti won't have his triggerman from last game.

That - plus he is required to implement Maurice's systems, good or bad.

2-2 now. Just about to start OT.

Edit: Looks like it is going to a SO.

1-0 Moose on the powerplay. Perfetti and Heinola with the assists.

What a nifty, shifty pass from Heinola to start this play. Sends the defender into next week with a quick fake and puts it on the tape. It's the sort of quick, creative play he makes routinely that your Jordie Benns (pulling a name from a hat) could spend a career never thinking of.

I am really going to enjoy watching these two work their magic together for years to come.

Blur passes to Blur, over to Blur... SCORES!

Man, Kovacevic just keeps getting better and better as the year goes on. Feeling a lot more confident in him being an NHL player one day than I did 3 games into the season.

Yeah I'm really happy with his game. I thinknhe has steady third pairing dmen written all over him.

Doesn’t he have a little “edge” to him as well.

Haven’t watched a lot of perfetti this year in the ahl. What’s impressed you the most about him Surixon

He most certainly has a bit of an edge to his game. He was having some issues straddling it early as he was making some real bad hits that got him suspended.

What do I like about his game:
- He is a good skater for his size with nice all around agility.
-He plays a very simple game but it's very projectable and easy to read off of it.
-He has a good set of skills. Good first pass out of his end and a nice shot that he gets through.

I think he is just a real steady player that will never wow you but won't ever hurt you either in a bottom pairing and PK role.

Another solid game for the Moose:

Perfetti wasn't as noticable offensively as past games but still made a number of things happen. He was good with the puck on his in his end and the nz. One thing that has really impressed me lately has been his ability to physically hold off players trying to check him and then gaining some separation. Given his age, physical development and skating you would expect him to struggle there, but nope here he is able to move and shake off a player draped all over him. Just think how good he will be able to handle things once he adds some more speed and strength.

Heinola had another strong all around effort. He was rushing the puck well and his passing was generally good. Defensively I think he still needs some polish as he can run around a bit at times and sometimes try's to do too much with the puck.

Samberg has really found his game lately, just another real nice tidy defensive effort while throwing his weight around. Tried some stuff offensively but wasn't always able to pull it off. Even though its likely not going to be a strength of his I like that he is being given the green light to work on it and try things at the AHL level.

Kovacevik: Another real sound all around game. Good defense, solid breakouts and was getting his shot through. You never have to worry with him out there.

Chisholm was solid tonight but was a bit off with his breakouts. He is able to use his speed to recover when he makes an error which is a plus. Other then that wasn't too noticeable.

Gus was more involved offensively today, set up Todd for a wide open net with a nice pass on a two on one that was missed. Was also opening up well for his shot and got a few good ones away. Showed excellent positional awareness defensively and broke up a few dangerous looking plays. He is another player that I am happy that the org is working on developing different aspects of his game. He may never be a top 6 player but working on his offense will help him be able to fill many different roles on the team moving forward.
