IMO, I think their NHL team parts are better than the whole in terms of standings performance this season. I think they bounce back a bit next year. Now that's only a shitty consolation prize... "Congrats you actually are a very mediocre team that should been in the bubble."
Maybe, but they don't seem to have a core that's anything more than a bubble playoff team, and no obvious way to move beyond that. They don't seem capable of playing at a high enough pace, and don't have much talent in the pipeline.

He won't be able to unless the OHL is cancelled again.

The CHL-NHL transfer agreement is up for renewal again this summer. There's been talk about higher transfer payments to allow for slightly more free movement between CHL, AHL, and NHL for at least one player per NHL club.

I think there's more appetite for it this go around because it's gonna be tough to send players like Drysdale, Perfetti, and Byram (just examples that came to mind immediately) after they've had a taste of pro hockey back to the OHL where they're obviously too good but maybe missing one aspect that would make them NHL ready.

Just caught the Moose game. Great effort by the team out there and totally dominated the game.

Congrats to Comrie on getting the record. I have always had a soft spot for him as a prospect, by all accounts he is terrific person who works his ass off so this record is well deserved. While he wasn't busy he had to make some big saves when the Moose where only up by one. He had a good night tonight.

Perfetti: This kid just learns so damn quickly. He was full marks for his three points tonight and easily could have had another couple. He is just an offensive chance generator that also pushes the play out of his end and into the offensive end at an extremely high level. The kid just understands spacing incredibly well and knows what he is going to do before he gets the puck. He has things to work on but really he can be as good as he wants to be. He has an incredibly rare combination of all world IQ and talent. He is also well ahead on his play without the puck and in his end of where you would typically expect a junior offensive star to be.

Heinola: Started slowly and it took him a period and a bit to work himself into the game. Looked really good in all facets the back half of the game. He is just in good position all around the ice and is silky smooth with the puck. He is very good at incorporating missdirection into his game which will be an asset with our forwards. He will be on the team next season and work his way into the top 4 imo.

Chisholm: Had himself a game. He was very good defensively and was moving the puck extremely well up the ice. He jumped into the play at the appropriate times and really added to the teams attack. He was also doing better at getting his shot on target tongiht.

Samberg: Tonight was a much better game from him. He was very good in his own end at shutting things down along the boards and in front of the net. Much better gap control and he was managing the puck really well tonight and making very good passes in all three zones. I liked that he showed some confidence to try things offensively.

Kovacevik: Just another real solid all around game from him. Another Moose player who could see NHL game action next year.

Reichel: Had his best game of the year. He had a number of great looks and was very good at linking up with Cole on the transition and in the offensive end tonight.

Gus: Plays just a real steady and quiet all around game. He is positionally sound and hard on pucks and finds himself in the right positions all over the ice. I think he is going to be a real important support piece for the team moving forward and to me looks a lot like Copp.

Vincent just continues to do such a good job with these players. He has the team playing pretty good all around hockey.

I've been impressed with Perfetti and I think he'll be a good NHLer; maybe very good. But I don't think he's ready to make a real impact at this stage, except maybe on the PP.
I actually think he will be better at the nhl level than the Ahl. He is so smart that the speed of the game should help him not hinder him. The same goes for Heinola put both these players in the jets lineup and they have a chance in the playoffs don’t and they will be out quickly. These two young players could actually be the two best players in the organization right now.

I agree except that last sentence. Should be "could actually become" - but they need NHL playing time to get better than Ehlers, Pionk, etc.

My best case scenario is that Maurice gets canned and Vincent gets promoted. I've said it for years already - I think he is also good with players, but he has the added bonus of actually being smart (instead of being good at bullshitting like PMo).

I see Vincent as the real reason our prospects have been doing well - Maurice doesn't know how to make players better, that's just not his gift. It seems to me that Vincent is much better at understanding his players, where they're at, and how to get more out of them while maintaining a healthy relationship with them.

I agree. I've seen a lot of Vincent at Moose practices, etc., and he is very involved with players on a micro- as well as management level (Maurice may be as well -- no idea). He and his team seem to have clear plans for prospect and team development and strategy and even when the personnel aren't there you can see it in how they play.

I'm not sure he ever sniffs the HC job with the Jets but I expect he will somewhere.

Maurice is actually very hands off at practice, he allows his assistants to run them for the most part. He inserts himself here and there to make comments but generally leaves everything else to the assistant coaches.

Perfetti and Heinola may be the two best prospects in Canada playing in the AHL this year. Really says something about our scouting.

.

Cup of coffee notwithstanding. I would guess he will need another full season of development at a minimum.

A week ago, I would have agreed. But it appears that he is starting to dominate at the AHL level. With a good off-season, he could be ready by next TC.

Edit: 11 pts in his last 5 games!

Yeah. I suspect it was a decision based on the fact that both teams are playing in Winnipeg right now so it's easy to send down and call up. I would expect Heinola and Nogier will be back up when the Jets go out on the road.

Yup. Meanwhile they will have played 4-5 games each.
