Yeah I think that should be the long term plan for him. Have him play on the right with JoMo.

Yeah, with Copp possibly needing a new contract, PLD definitely needing one, maybe we get a good backup next year if Comrie doesn't work out, that ELC will be very valuable in our window.

Hopefully schmidt pumps up his value and we trade him for a 1st so we can get Heinola in.

Yeah, I'd keep Dillon over Schmidt at this (or any) time. Ville is going to erase the gap between them pretty soon if he hasn't already, at a whole lot younger and quite a bit smarter on the ice, I'd say.

Schmidt always seemed like a bit of a head-scratcher, whereas Dillon brought the mean streak and shutdown abilities, like a DD who'll knock ya into the boards. Schmidt seems like a worse Pionk to me, but who knows.

Perfetti continues to be incredibly disruptive. He reminds me of Mark Stone/Armia that way. They just always seem to know what opponents are going to do before they do it and that allows them to get their stick in and make things more difficult for the opposition and it often results in takeaways.

Eyssimont continues to really impress me. Kid's got a lot of skill. I'm going to keep an eye on him.

Poganski on the other hand is not impressing me at all. He had a gorgeous goal a few games ago but apart from that he kind of looks lost, especially in the defensive zone.

Berdin went for the goalie goal but an opposing player stopped him and almost tied it up. I will never doubt Berdin's talent, but I do sometimes question his intelligence. Reminds me of Mike Smith in how he's a great puck handler but will make poor decisions at times that will result in a goal against. I do believe the puck playing ability is a positive for him overall though. He had a 22 save shutout. I feel it's not often we see a goalie through 4 games who has a .907sv% and 2 shutouts. The Moose have looked very strong as a team. They've outshot their opponents by a significant amount this season and 3 of those 4 games they didn't have Perfetti. The 2 that they've lost Berdin had a combined .842SV%. Hard to win those.

Feel bad for Calvin Pickard tonight. Stood on his head, and then the only goal of the game seemed to be him losing track. Either he thought it was offside or he didn't see Meier shoot at all because he did not react to a weak shot from the blue line at all until it was behind him.

I continue to see Gustafsson as Patrice Bergeron-lite.

Perfetti had 6 shots and looked very good. Again, Calvin Pickard was amazing tonight.

I think we are back to having a fun Moose team to watch (live). I might try to make it out to a couple of games this season. I would like to scout (watch) Perfetti, Heinola, Samberg, Gus, and Chisholm in person.

Thanks for the great summary. Like Dubois Perfetti is going to bring something unique and much needed to our top 6 when he is ready.

Is he playing center or wing?

Also how did Heinola/Kovacevik look

Great, detailed summary -- thanks. Such an interesting mix of talent on this Moose squad.

AHLTV and Covid are really messing with my Moose-watching lately.

Thanks Kyosama.

This is why I come to HFBOARDS. That is to read posts like yours.

They needed a stop gap due to Moe wanting one imo so Chevy went out and got a player that he can likely move in a year or two when Ville is ready.

Some odd things going on in Moose land. Moose have been widely out-shooting opponents but sometimes getting little to show for it. Berdin has either been giving up 5 goals or none.

Early season I guess.

why even move him, we were 31st in points from d last year he is a welcome addition

Jets have their top 3 defensemen signed at under $18 million, which is remarkably astute given the market. I think Schmidt is a good fit here. I think the Jets would be better off moving Dillon in the offseason, making room for Stanley to move up the lineup. Throw Heinola in that mix, and that's a talented group, for years to come. And some good depth coming up.

He's playing center. Heinola-Kovacevic looked good. Heinola's still doing his oddly timed panic pivots. Just figuring that out would make him look so much better in the defensive zone.

But doesn’t Schmidt bring what we are expecting Heinola to bring? Good luck movement offensive instincts. Dillion brings something different in physicality so I’d move Schmidt before Dillion if Heinola is next up.

Thanks, I'm at the game today so I'm looking forward to seeing all of our prospects.

So we have cap space for pld and copp. Copp brings more to team than Schmidt if next up is Heinola.
copp is a luxury we won't be able to afford especially with perfetti coming up and I'm not ready to pencil in heinola on the top pairing on his off hand just yet, if he comes in it would most likely be for either stanley or demelo

But Stan and Demelo both definitely bring something different to the team. Demelo is the safe reliable no risk d. And Stan is the physical beast. Schmidt, is like Morrissey, Pionk. If Heinola comes in he should start on 3rd pairing but ultimately should be the Schmidt replacement.
