Dishonor for Connor. This defense will do. It’s worst in the NHL bad. Matheson will make it one of the worst when he’s back.

I’m disappointed Barron didn’t make it. But he’s not yet 21.

I've been following the Habs for over 50 years and have seen almost everything. Except this. I don't ever remember the team dumping all pretence of winning and embracing a complete rebuild. All I can say is it's about freakin' time! Going from the SCF roster with Weber, Petry, Price, Danault, etc. to a last-place bunch of rookies and prospects gives me whiplash – I can't even remember all the new jersey numbers! – but it's cool to feel like the team finally has a real strategy. Which is why the poll question seems silly and pointless, but have at it...

I honestly haven't seen a defensive group this bad in a long while, and that includes some awful post-TDL teams that had just dumped half of their roster. I don't think this would even be the best defense in the AHL.

Tell me your not intentionally tanking

Sure - but to be fair, our 2 best defenseman by far (Matheson and Edmundson) are both injured. Not saying we're not bad, and possibly even worst in league even with them - I'm just saying, the team didn't exactly intentionally choose to have their 2 best D injured.

The real question is how fast will the Bedard slander start around here? Hell go from the next Mcdavid to the new Patrik Stefan in a matter of weeks when the Habs start going 4 5 games with Ls.

Btw you can do yhe same thing for the offense or goaltending.

Bottom 3 in the league at all positions baby

Inferiority complex is strong here.

Where is the "Just the way I like it " option?

I like Barron. Petry should be serviceable. Gets hard to find positives after that.

I have read all of the posts of this thread and Leafs GDT (so far)
everyone is laughing at Habs, even some of their own fans...
- Leafs fan posting like, they are not happy if they can't destroy them

It would be just, that Leafs would lose this game, their opener of the 22-23 season.

Sure Habs D looks, well not as good as it could be, but Leafs roster isn't
so much better, as a whole that is.

Leafs D is lots better, sure but when you look at that F line up
Canadiens have more depth scoring what Leafs, not even kidding.

If Montreal can kill off Toronto's top guys, they don't have depth to score much at all.
Where as Montreal has goal scorers and players who can create chances, for all 4 lines.

I mean, if Leafs top forwards gets played out, anyone seriously think these guys
could win the game for the Leafs???

Malgin, Engvall, Järnkrok, Kerfoot, Aston-Reese, Kämpf, Aube-Kubel
on paper... all 100% meh players

Canadiens 3rd line projects to look like this; Slafkovsky-Dvorak-Gallagher
and they have players like Pitlick, Evans and Dadonov in their 4th,
Dadonov who scored 20 goals and about 50 points last season, in 78 games
Pitlick was impressive last season, 15 goals and about 40 points

Sure, Leafs stars are one of the best in the league
but its the opening day and Montreal is not that bad
as many are saying that they are.

You're literally begging to be slandered.
That's a whole new level of a victim complex.

It will be amazing when Caulfield and Suzuki drag you into a solidly awkward 23rd in the league standings and you get a 9th overall pick.

Jeff Petry is a Penguin now lol.
At least the left side has a lot of potential which I love but the right side is pretty bad and can't use being young prospects as an excuse.

Wow... Is Matheson really their best dman?
I would not say best but best of the experienced ones. I think both Guhle and Harris will be better than him in short order.
