Say what you want about Weber but Emelin is not nearly the same player when not paired with Weber.

The Ghetto Desharnais Mitchell line has been better than the last two.

I'd go with

Pacioretty Galchenyuk Radulov
Lehkonen Danault Shaw
Ghetto DD Mitchell
Byron Plekanec Gallagher (Pleks and Gallagher doing nothing, sorry Byron is stuck with them).

Shots were 12-5 in favour of Leafs. I can just hear Bergeron saying it doesn't matter how many shots you take, as long as you make them count. But if he score was 3-0 or 3-1 for Toronto, he'd go on a rant that you can't score goals if you don't take shots on net.

Hes not wrong on both cases though.

Quality shots over quantity

Period ended at the right time. Leafs got a lot of 2 foot chances on Price in that period. We are not good down low around the net. We lose battles behind our net and seem incapable of blocking out or moving guys in the slot.

Difference between the Leafs & Habs is they cycle the net (inside position). We cycle the corners (perimeter). They are far more effective down low because of it.

Galchenyuk is having a good game as is Pacioretty. They should be playing together with Radulov and Danault on another line.

Well that was ugly. Lucky to be up 2-1. Price looking sharp anyways. And the DD we love is back.

At this point I don't even know if i trust Emelin on a third pairing. If we make it to the playoffs, the opposing team is going to feast on him during a 7 game series.

Many on this sight are starting to see that Weber is only average. Yes he has a cannon of a shot but his slow skating is not helping this team's transition.

Weber has not been great in this game but Emelin has been worse, it is an adventure every time he touches the puck.

Hard to look fast when you have to cover so much ice playing with the Emelin train wreck.

Emelin is awful. I get nervous everytime he's on the ice. He has top 4 D status because of occasional big hits, but he's lost out there and he seems to bring down the team's overall level of confidence. I wouldn't care if he's traded or scratched.

You can see though that the team is getting better and better at puck possession. Some mistakes like DD did but at least things are getting better, they try things, play with their head instead of going through the motions of boring dump and chase. With Jesus Price, some time to adjust and a trade or two and I still have hope.

I'm not in a let's tank mode, this team can improve its game but they need to improve quick, like giant steps asap.

Just saw the first goal.

I thought Galchenyuk was just a shooter and doesn't set up his teammates? What happened?:sarcasm:

It's astounding how MB is always saying he wants a mobile D with a good first pass. Not only they're mostly slow, they can't clear the zone or make an outlet pass. And they can't skate the puck out of the zone. In theory, Petry and Beau should be able but they're so inconsistent, they're only able to do so 1/4 of the year. Markov still has puck skills and puck poise but his legs are gone. Weber.... no comment. Emelin is also super inconsistent, some days he looks like a decent #2/#3, other days, he's barely a third pairing d-man.

He's disappointing for sure. I thought after his hot start maybe he was playing injured, but its looking like what you see is what you get.

I don't think the trade will be a disaster, but pk is better.

That said, there are circumstances behind the trade we don't know
