I don't mind keeping some of them as depth players, especially since aside from Savard they don't have much value. But at the same time, you got Heinman, Kapanen, Demidov, Reinbacher, Roy, Mailloux, Engstrom, Beck, and possibly more in need of full-time spots in the next year.

So, if you gotta clear the dead weight to make space might as well grab a pick during this season
After the first three names, I don't see any NHLers next year, unless they have a 'Kapanen-like' training camp next year.

Savard won't get a first, that ship has sailed, he's actually slower than ever.
A late 2nd for him is what I expect. And it's time to give his spot to younger guys (after the TD).

Armia is a guy I'd see a team paying a 2nd for him, if he has a decent season.

Dvorak? If someone is ready to pay something for him without retention, go!

Evans is a keeper, he's good at what he does, drafted and raised in the organization. Far better than Dvorak at a cheaper price.

Pezzetta we keep. Can't have any better when it comes to a 13th forward.

Lining up to sell already?

Maybe the Habs should just play some more games, first?

It's more about getting pieces that will not be part of our contending team out so we can position ourselves to get the right pieces in.

I don't think it should a whole firesale, but there's a few of those pieces that should go.

And definitely not in October, more like December-March. Unless of course a great offer comes in.

Not even Hughes knows that yet, but some random poster on HF states it as 100% fact. Stupid thread only seen on HF.

I'm pretty sure Hughes knows his team isn't a contender.

He won’t sell just to sell, but will probably try to get some assets for the guys that don't fit past this year like Dvorak, Armia and probably Savard.

Montreal just got clowned by an old, slow Penguins team that has suspect goaltending. They are about as far away from contention as a team can be without being the 23-24 Sharks.

So if they won against Toronto and Ottawa, what does that mean for them?

Judging teams on a single game doesn't work.

Maybe the total lack of structure in the neutral zone and making Kevin Hayes look like prime Jaromir Jagr on the cycle was a one off.

But I'm quite comfortable judging Montreal on what I've seen so far this year. They have some good young players, but they are obviously not good enough to make the playoffs.

Of course he does, but that doesn't make them sellers as stated. I'm also not sold on he will sell Armia and Savard if they are going to the playoffs (not saying they are).

Is Savard still decent?
He's been pretty bad so far (brutal against the Pens) but I do think it's more of a bad stretch rather than him falling off completely. He was arguably our best dman last year and was still good in preseason. He should be fine in a #4/5 dman role.

That being said, I don't know if teams would pay up a 1st right now (maybe closer to the deadline). Habs also need more NHL RHD and not less so I doubt they'd want to trade him before then anyways.
