On a 2v1, dman covers the pass and leave the shooter to the goalie. Goalie is supposed to worry about the shooter. As far as I know it's how it's always been.

Absolutely! I'm a goalie and I always tell my defencemen to play that way. If I know what he's doing, then there is only one thing I need to worry about- the shooter.

The defensemans job is to make the forward shoot from a reasonable distance not let the puck carrier walk right in on the goalie for a shot.

Bouillon basically played the 2 on 1 into a breakaway for Tavares

No. One of the 2 trailers would have wired a shot in if he hadn't have played it that way.

It was Tavares... you have to know who you're up against when you're on D.

Anyone saying Price should've had a mini breakaway by Tavares is just silly.

Bouillion hesitated before he went back to cover his man, then he thought twice and dove and Tavares too late.

Price cheated on that shot. He wasn't square to Tavares, and even worse, when Tavares shot, Price moved towards the center of his crease.
It's no win... Tavares is a superstar and we gave him all the time in the world with another guy on the other side of the crease to boot.

You can say "he should've stopped it" on any goal but in this case it's on the D. Pathetic to let a guy like Tavares have all day IN THE FREAKING SLOT.

Dude... Tavares could've pitched a tent there. The goalie can worry about the shooter that's fine but you should expect to be scored on if you let Tavares just stand there with all day to decide what to do. You're seriously going to blame Price? That's just stupid.

If that was someone else Boullion would have done the right thing...but that was Tavares.

If I was a goalie I'd take an odd man rush over a Tavares breakaway on me.

It was a lose-lose situation though. The Islanders are oddly great at these sort of breakaways.

Maybe one person possibly alluded to that, but I don't want to get in the way of all of you guys readying the tar and feather and hunting down those heretics.

.

He wasn't even square. Price was sideways and practically in them middle of his crease when the puck went in. He was cheating by a mile.

As a goalie you'd be ok if your #5 defender jumped off best player of the other team to let him walk in on you?

Not just take a shot mind you, but walk in alone.

As a goalie you want them to take the pass during a generic 2v1, but i'd much, much rather have my D have the situational awareness to take away the passing lane and be aggressive enough to force a decision right away?

Maybe thats just me.
