He'd be 60+ if he was used properly. Not doubt in my mind.

I'm not going to slag him anymore than I'll slag Beaulieu. We've got a ****** coach holding him back. That's not on the player...
I'm beyond ragging on DD and Therrien. It's not contributing much else to the conversation. 90% of the board are aware of how terrible they've been in their respective roles.

That's not going to salvage his poor season. He need to be strong in the playoff for that to happen, that's the only way.

I'm just pointing out how much easier it is pick up assists when you're playing with the best player on the team. And that was a great pass from our no vision center. :sarcasm:

Is it too much to want him to play C and be on pace for ~60 points?

Really?

Maybe I've overhyped him, but then in that case, if that's true, wouldn't you trade him for RyJo if the deal was available?

You have to keep in mind the style of play MTL instills. Even Pacioretty, our perennial 30+ goal scorer doesn't produce as many points as some of of the elite snipers in the league. People forget that Galchenyuk missed a whole season of hockey in his draft year, played a shortened season, and got injured for 6 weeks last season (arm) and about 4 weeks entering last year's playoffs, yet still is the highest producing forward from his draft year. Not to mention the fact that he plays with Plekanec, therefore gets tough d-zone minutes and faces the opposing team's best forwards. ALSO, the time he was put at center, he produced at a point per game rate until he hit a small skid and Therrien put him back to wing.

John Tavares leads the NHL in points and is on pace for 84 points. 84. Scoring 100 points a season in the NHL is a rarity. Being disappointed in a youngster because he isn't scoring 60 pts in his second full season when the leading scorer in the NHL is on pace for approx. 80 is ridiculous and unfair.

that's fair. i want to no if beaulieu can be a top pairing guy, though

We all do, but from what I've seen I think #3-4 is more accurate. I don't think his game is economical enough to be a top pairing guy. Would love ot be wrong though.

He would be flirting with 100 points pace if not for MT. :sarcasm:

When Galchenyuk was in Sarnia he drove 2 hours each way to Toronto to train legs every week.

Ok I'll bite why did Galchenyuk have to drive 4 hours to train legs? Hope he brought his post workout shake with him. 2 hours is a heck of along drive especially after working legs.

Wanted to train with Nichols and his crew who are widely regarded for training pro hockey players. If I remember correctly.

No it's not, but let's stop being ridiculous for an instant... Do you really believe that he's not good enough to displace one of our four centers ? Do you really believe he couldn't put up more points playing with the best winger on the team (That would be Foligno for Ryjo.) ? If you do believe it, I can't help you.

Obviously, most people would trade for Ryjo, myself included, he's only 2 years older and he's already a sure bet. Does that mean Ryjo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Galchenyuk like you are proposing ? F. no.
I think great players force their coaches hands. Great players are built around - not any other way.

The players we have to worry about, the Ellers, the Higgins, the Kostitsyns etc. They're not going to be elite players. Subban was dicked around by Martin and Therrien, he DEMANDED ice-time and earned it. Remember how many people were burning up and down when Subban was benched by Martin? When he wouldn't get PK time from Therrien? Within 3 season he's a Norris winning, top5 defenseman. No one can hold Subban down.

Galchenyuk hasn't taken the top6 C position from DD or Pleks. It's on Therrien, sure, but Therrien doesn't give gifts to young players - they have to earn it. I don't agree with his methods AT ALL. But that's the reality. Subban made it through, Pacioretty made it through - maybe Galchenyuk is just a tier below them??

Which is exactly what I'm saying - I want to temper folks' expectations with Galchenyuk. Less Taveres, more Afinogenov.
