That's crazy what Ottawa was ready to pay to change Turris by Duchene.

Exactly, that 3rd is not worth much but 1st + Bowers?(Who could end up a very good 2C maybe even 1B) And all that without guarantee Duchene will want to stay after the 2 years remaining on his contract.

Melnyk is executing his plan. Clear the deck for EK. He didn't want to pay Turris, but wanted to remain competitive for the next two years so he got MD. MD is not much an upgrade on Turris and it cost Ottawa a lot for essentially one more year of a top 6C.

Nash got better today, Ottawa to me stayed the same, and Colorado made a good move for their future.

I don't see a number one there. Johansen is a 60 point center. Good but not great.

Turris never became the player I thought he would. I've seen a few posts touting the Preds depth up the middle but I don't see a great player there. That D is sick though.

If they didn’t have Johansen to play on the top line, then maybe. But Turris playing second line sandwiched by Johansen and Bonino is very good.
