This fallacy that it is some sort of anomaly that the Leafs get outplayed for a few minutes of a game is insane.

Name a team that doesn't give up chances or plays the so called "Full 60"?
Of course they give up chances. Just look remotely prepared is all I ask. Pretend you arrived at the stadium in time and warmed up.

I'm concerned he is cooked not after 1 period.... but after one of the most devastating injuries I've ever seen on a leaf player.

Man, I didn't know that only "bad hockey fans" are concerned about their captain's health.

Would I be a better fan if I was hoping he was cooked as opposed to being concerned about it? Again, what are you talking about?
Give Tavares a couple games before making any conclusions would be my 2 cents

I just hope Tavares can find his groove again. He really seems to be fighting it this period. It's early and I'm not really worried but we definitely need him to be a factor not just a passenger.
His days of being the best player on his line are nearly done

Matthews and Marner are much better and Nylander should pass him by this season's end. Not too bad if he can give us 75-80 points but if he falls down into the 60s with heavy reliance on PP and little shot generation at EVS it will be a concern

He's very valuable in the locker room though and good morale boost

Year 4 of Tavares' 7 year deal and he looks like just that. Started looking like it last year tbh. Doesn't look like he can drive play on his own anymore other than in flashes here and there.

I like both Dermott and Sandin, but they had a lot of trouble getting the puck out of their own zone.

I don't think Dermott is very comfortable playing on his off-side position.
I didn't think his off side was the issue...they just don't compliment one another very well imo. If he is going to play his off side, I'd rather move him up with Muzzin and play Holl with Sandin. Both of them are the types that need a steady stay at home presence beside them

I hope Robertson is able to dominate the AHL and get a call up later in the season.

He has the skill that could really be advantagous for our PP along with some underrated tendencies that could help come playoffs. He just needs to get stronger on his feet and prove he's a kadri/nylander/kapanen/AJ type AHL player (i.e., showing he's too good for the AHL)

There's nothing about McDavid that tells me he's an athelete. But my god what an athlete

EDM plays VAN tonight

Think Mcdavid gets 3 points and Drai 2 points. Those 2 guys will feast on the pacific and run away with top 2 in the points race. Clear cut 2 of 3 best offensive players in the game, though leave room to be desired defensively and compete wise.

Oilers could be a deep playoff team if they start delivering in the playoffs as expected

The first 10 minutes were pretty brutal, but we started to settle down a bit after that.

Campbell looks great so far.
It's a common theme with this team though. I think we're all eager.... desperate... to see changes in attitude, work ethic, etc. And slow starts seem all too familiar.

And yeah, Cambpell looks great. I think he's underrated at this point. He put on a clinic to close out the regular season last year. And yeah, we all remember the bad goal in game 7... but he was amazing overall during the playoffs.

I'm surprised there isn't a bigger concern that Tavares is cooked. His decline was noticeable last year, and that's before that devastating injury in game 1.

I'm concerned... and that last shift didn't make me feel much better.
Probably because he isn't, but if you think so, all the power to you my friend. Try to not talk about him though, there are plenty of other guys there that can't hockey anymore, I mean if they ever could! Cheers

Horrible Horrible start.

Habs easily could have 3 goals before Leafs got their powerplays.

Engvall perhaps believes in himself, or at least since he got tossed last year for sticking up for himself.

Vancouver had a flat out disaster of a season last year. Everything that could go wrong, did. I think they'll surprise people this year.
