Travis Dermott on his off side is a disaster waiting to happen.

I like both Dermott and Sandin, but they had a lot of trouble getting the puck out of their own zone.

I don't think Dermott is very comfortable playing on his off-side position.

I'm surprised there isn't a bigger concern that Tavares is cooked. His decline was noticeable last year, and that's before that devastating injury in game 1.

I'm concerned... and that last shift didn't make me feel much better.

It's a concern for sure but he looked good in preseason. Never gonna get any faster but he can still be a great puckhound and has great hands.

I'd say JT has quite a few great games left in him as a leaf.

Some credit needs to go to Montreal, they are pretty consistent starting strong, not just vs the Leafs.

No credit goes to Montreal……according to many posters here the Habs are crap and the Leafs are contenders.
Plus the fact that this happens so often

Because the Leafs have Ritchie and Simmonds?

They had Simmonds last year. Why didn't that stop him from running Muzzin?
Why didn't that stop Kassian taking a run at Tavares?

Also, I think you are mistaking Ritchie for Lucic or Gary Roberts. He's moody fighter. He'll fight but only kind of when he wants to

Deep-dive 1st period analysis: we sucked and we were great.

I think the refs helped shift some momentum our way, which I'm thankful for. Had we not gotten that 1st PP, it could've spiraled. The 2nd PP was gravy. Hopefully they don't give Montreal any.

The last 5 coaches had the same problem. this isn't a new trend Maurice, Wilson, Carlyle, Horachek and Babs all said the same thing (maybe not Horachek) we need to start ontime

Not even close to true. Under Keefe they have scored the first goal far more often than they habe given it up.

I just hope Tavares can find his groove again. He really seems to be fighting it this period. It's early and I'm not really worried but we definitely need him to be a factor not just a passenger.

I'm concerned he is cooked not after 1 period.... but after one of the most devastating injuries I've ever seen on a leaf player.

Man, I didn't know that only "bad hockey fans" are concerned about their captain's health.

Would I be a better fan if I was hoping he was cooked as opposed to being concerned about it? Again, what are you talking about?
