Really cannot wait for:

Markov-Emelin
Subban-Gorges
Diaz-Bouillon

Really think that is an excellent group on the backend.

anyone think with Subban back, Diaz is going?

Going where?

Diaz is not going anywhere. Not unless some sweet deal comes back, anyways. And I don't think his value is high enough right now.

Weberon the other hand, is a known quantity on the market. And take Kaberle.... Please, take him!

Not for a second. I think that PK will be on the second unit until Diaz falters, if he does.

Markov - Diaz just too good to split up right now.

PK and Weber, Bou or Kaberle makes more sense, right now IMO than breaking up the 1st unit.

What I like about it is that in a way it humbles PK. If he had gotten 5 million per or 6 million per for many years, he's the type of guy that would have ride high and now with this contract it brings him back down to Earth. And he will have to prove himself to get that big deal next time.

Humble is not in the language of a person seeking what they think they should be paid, nor should it be. He had every right to seek more money. Its a free market. And he will earn every penny whether he scores 7 or 40 goals. There comes a time though when you have to balance what you think you deserve and the opportunity to play again. One of the very same reasons we are in a shortened season.

Hockey is a TEAM sport, if you want to cut your own throat and fight the team you are supposed to be working with you will not get far in this game. Selfish players find this out in a hurry when they sign a deal that handcuffs their owners. Becoming a burden on the team due to your own greed is not an enjoyable experience I would imagine. I wonder how Bryzgalov feels right now knowing he might be bought out and never get another contract.

Ofcourse it is a free market but there is a salary cap in place and your pay effects everyone on your team.

It is important to develop young players both on and off the ice. Signing this contract is part of that development process and a sign of maturity. Kudos to Subban for getting it done and taking up the challenge to prove his worth to management over the next 18 months!

Kaberle-Weber aren't going anywhere. They have no value and they will be useful when one of our D inevitably gets hurt.

Pretty easy.

If the habs were losing, MB wouldve caved in to PK's demands.
Since habs are winning, PK caved in. Obviously he wants to be a part of it!

with all this talk of pk getting paid next time with big $ and big term...who says hes gonna want to sign long-term with us? hes an emotional guy and i wouldnt be surprised if this HAS left a bad taste in his mouth and bad blood has developped. he might refuse long term contracts and we might be forced to trade him. im not sure were gonna get full value for him then.

Are probably gonna be the pairings. There is no way that Bouillon has to sit. I've been very skeptical of this signing, but he has proven me wrong big time, he's been very very solid.

A lot can happen in two years, he may have forgotten it if the team is doing well. If not then we'll trade him for a player that would be beneficial to our team and hope that one of our pack of upcoming D will replace him.

I also believe PK love the Habs and he will play his whole career here. If he did not ask for a trade in this conflict and yield to a low balling offer from MB, I just don't see how he is going to leave the Habs. MB have won the battle but he will lose the war. PK will play hard the next 2 years and ask for a lot of money in the next contract.

:facepalm::facepalm:

I give you a double facepalm.

If Subban continues to progress and performs well, then that means that the Canadiens are progressing.

And with that, Subban will be rewarded for his play.

How in the hell is that losing a war? Bergevin wants his players to succeed as well as his team to succeed. (Unless he is the Manchurian GM hired by Toronto.:sarcasm:)

There is no war. Just a desire by both PK and Bergevin to succeed.

Your obviously a PK fan by your avatar. He is not that good. I'm not going to argue it, because I could be wrong. I don't want to portray the guy as a cancer, because he's not. all I'm trying to say is PK's personality is too large for the team. I'm not telling you what to like, with the triple low five. I know this is the new age of hockey, but it's still not soccer where player's rip there shirts off after goals and fall on the floor and start crying. Come on you would have to be lying if you did'nt think nail yakupov's goal celebration was a little too larger than life. I don't see the triple low five as detrimental to the team, I just see it as un-needed, I would rather see the team come together and raise there sticks to the crowd like in the jersey game then see pk rush over to price for a triple low 5.

Wow, let's not show any personality! jebus christ! You must be one boring dude.

Darche just congratulated Subban on twitter.

Since Gauthier has his own thread on Page One, we need a Darche Thread as well.:sarcasm:

Darche is trying to work his way into some sort of management role in Montreal.

No way do you sit Boullion.

He has been playing very well.

This! So many people pissed that bouillon was playing so many minutes, but honestly, he's been one of our best defenseman. Him and Diaz on the third pairing the way they are both playing now is freaking amazing!

:shakehead I don't even understand this. PK seems to be critiqued differently from other players and I simply do not understand it. So he shouldn't have gotten a long term deal because he would have gotten a big head? PK is a pretty grounded dude. It's not his fault his enthusiasm is seen as being cocky or big headed.

As for your last line. You say it as if he hasn't proven himself enough to deserve a Carlson or Fowler deal.

And that's because of Emelin. So far I've been completely wrong about him. I thought he wouldn't be able to play top 4 minutes... but he has. Of course playing with Markov helps, but chemistry is chemistry.

We have our 1st pairing from this season, first pairing from last season and Bouillon Diaz as the third pairing. Quite impressive

true...who knows what will happen but like a few posters here...i really did not like how this was handled...especially since hes considered one of our cornerstones. hes one of my fave players and will be very hard to replace. just hope hes putting this behind him and will want to still sign long term
