Pretty much means the plan is for Hutson/Mailloux/Reinbacher to start in the AHL.
Also, means Pezz/Gignac/ABB/Roy are all sent to the AHL (they can keep one to the be 13th forward technically but won't have the cap space for it).
Doesn't work.
With Pezz/Gignac/ABB/Roy Montreal is at 11th forwards. You need 12th minimum. Pazette is more of a 13th forward imo too.
Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf
Newhook-Dach-Laine
Roy-Dvorak-Gallagher
Anderson-Evans-Armia
Pazetta
RHP (injured for at least 1 month)
RHP will be injured to start the season for at least one month and once he returns there will probably be injuries. Don't think he's part of the plan anymore anyway if there's no injuries and Roy is doing well i expect someone to be waived or a trade involving Pazetta with Demidov likely coming in next season.
As for the defense i think they'll want one of Reinbacher/Hutson/Mailloux/Engstrom in the NHL if one is ready. You don't want to be stuck in a position where you keep all of them in the AHL depite one being ready just to play hardball and then the next year they are all more than ready enough and you have two or three green rookies in the lineup at defense.
We don't aim to be ready to compete in 2050. If one of them is mentally and physically ready no reason to keep him in the AHL just because they need to learn RISPEK and LIDERSHIP. NHL experience can't be gained in the AHL and on average players need around 150 games of NHL experience before they are ready to win.
I expect the defense to be :
Matheson-Guhle
Hutson-Savard
Xhekaj-
Barron
Struble
or
Matheson-Savard

Xhekaj-
Reinbacher
Struble
or

or

Engstrom-Savard

People also forget Struble just have one year of pro experience and doesn't have to be waived, I expect them to rotate between the bolded young dmen to avoid overworking them and to give them NHL experience facing the likes of McJesus, MacKinnon, Crosby, .... I'd be very surprised if our 7th dman this year is a placeholder. I think for this to happen all kids will need to be clearly without a single shade of doubt not ready.
I know the "let them rot in the AHL until they learn RISPEK" mentally is very strong with our fanbase and media but i don't think this is an attitude our management share. They'll do it intelligibly and will focus on what's best for the players and team moving forward.
