Man, that'll teach me to step out to go to my own game.

As bad as it probably seems, I saw some very encouraging things tonight. We were playing like crap at the beginning of the year and winning, and it caught up to us; now we are carrying the play and that will catch up to us as well. Goalies aren't going to post near-perfect games against us every night if we continue to play like we did at the back end of the second on into the third.

To get back to my point earlier for Ron--and it ties in above--what I saw early Inthe game was a team throwing picks at the net and though there was mild traffic it was guys coasting thru the slot and one-and-done drivebys. When the team is being assertive, they're moving their feet and getting traffic to the net hard--making life difficult for the defensemen which makes it difficult for the goalie. Price didn't start magically giving up second and third chances because he was tired. That's my only point--when we really bear down, we are nigh unstoppable. When we don't, we carry play, but the shot totals make the "dominance" an illusion because it's nothing scary.

And yeah toffoli getting hooked before his release was garbage but the refs were having a rough night on both sides. Just seems like we get scored on on a high proportion of the questionable calls but it's probably just confirmation bias from being infuriated lol

I was at the game yesterday night and would like to say a big thanks to the Kings for the hockey lesson. It was great to see the breakouts, the cycle game, the strengh & depth of your team. Great effort from your team especially if you take that it was at the end of a back to back. Obviously, Carey Price was the reason why there was still a game after the 1st period. Switch him & Jones and you have a completely different game. Oh yeah, first time I saw Doughty play live and boy he didn't dissapoint. Don't worry guys, you will have your revenge back at the Staples Center in early March.

Best of luck for the rest of the season!

Now imagine what he looks like live when he actually plays well!

The Kings are now 1-5-1 against Eastern teams on the road, with 1.71 goals for, and 3.29 goals against. Not including empty net or shootout goals. 3-1-3 against the West on the road.

Take out the 1-5-1 record, and the Kings are 14-5-4, which would be good enough for 114 points over 82 games.

Now Kopitar didn't play in 3 of those Eastern road games, and the Kings were 0-2-1. So they're 1-3 with Kopitar, which isn't much better.

If you have to lose, doing it on the road against the East isn't the worst thing in the big picture, but it's not helping either.

I'm cringing looking at the record. No offense to the East...but c'mon its the East. :D

Forgetting the final score, there are plenty of positives to take with us this game. Keep improving those corsi numbers. #TeamMoralVictory

We outplayed the Habs. I was at the game tonight. First period was all LA. We actually played better vs Montreal than we did vs Ottawa. Carey Price absolutely stole the show, this was basically the same game as last year, but reverse the goalie roles. We won 6-0 but Martin Jones stole that game for us in the first period.

Guys, again.....3 games in 4 nights....going on 4 games in 6 nights...this was a brutal road trip...thank god it won't happen again this year

New lines (shocker!) vs the Leafs

Forward lines at practice:
23-11-77,
70-10-73,
12-28-14,
13-22-74-71

I figured JW would have to go back to Stoll's line soon, (courtesy of a JFTC article/stats) without JW, Stoll's Corsi falls to the low 40's, with JW they go up to almost 50%. Stoll needs JW to be moderately effective.
So that was only a matter of time. I don't like JC and AK on the same line tho.
MR is a good fit with TT and TP, they'll get plenty of feeds.
But Sutter likes that blender and God knows they will probably get scrambled up at some point.

Hopefully not as careless in their own end, tighten that up. And put some pressure on JB, although with the team in front of him, he's used to it.

OT- Sid Crosby might have the mumps...and it sure looks like it from the photo

It's nice to see the Kings completely dominate the corsi again.... What was the score? Who cares regular season doesn't matter....

By spreading out the 4th line... Clifford/Lewis the Kings were able to control the majority of play. The problem was that now you have Pearson setting up Lewis for a shot... and Carter open on the back door for a pass and Brown doing a face plant into the crease with the puck instead of passing.... leads to a large volume of low percentage shots and guys like Lewis, who don't have a lot of puck luck, taking those shots.... now there is a debate, well not for Sutter, as to whether a large volume of shots is better then a smaller number of higher percentage shots..... the answer probably lies in the middle somewhere.

Power play needs to be fixed. It has sucked for at least 2 years.... I'm not holding my breath on this because in order to fix the power play the Kings need to have a couple set passing plays that they can then build off of.... for this to work the Kings would need to

-practice passing (see Brown/Stoll/Williams powerplay.. yes they scored a goal a few games back... I don't care I'm still ripping their playmaking abilities.)

-Practice the power play (with passing, not just shots into screens). Still remember last year when it was news that the Kings were going to practice the powerplay. In all fairness if your power play is shots through screens and going for rebounds it doesn't need to be practiced all that much.

This isn't done because then guys start trying to make cute plays with the puck on the powerplay and will inevitably bleed through to 5 on 5 play, so this is not allowed.

The game I saw last night was the Kings "controlling" play and having 0 finish... Canadians capitalizing on their power plays, and sitting back and waiting for the Kings to start chasing the game and then burning them on odd man attacks... Canadians played the better game, despite the shot attempts.

I'm just complaining for the sake of complaining... 40+ shots!!!! and the Corsi win! Bring on the playoffs!

All of the long time fans around here are still pinching ourselves regarding the organization that AEG has allowed Dean Lombardi to build. The Kings' development program is probably at the top of the heap in the entire NHL, and the best part about it is that once players get to the NHL, the Kings coaching staff going all the way back to Terry Murray and now Sutter makes them better players.

As fans we appreciate fans from other teams recognizing what the Kings' organization has accomplished.

Agree on the PP practice passing and the lack thereof is very evident. But the problem with that is that Sutter does not use (which I totally disagree with) set PP1 and PP2 units. he rolls with what lines are hot and genrally switches up, esp the 2nd unit. You look at the teams that have success in the4 PP, they have set units that generally do not change and they practice as a unit. I don't think Sutter sees it that way and untl he does, they will have some gams where they get that goal but most games they won't, they % of success is not with them, too haphazard.

Good thing we beat Buffalo to kick it off then... wait, what?

More like what the **** have Kopitar and Carter done to be put on the "first" line?
