Looks like I was lucky to not be able to watch this. Just got back home. Won't bother with the remaining few minutes.

In the mix means they want to play more meaningful games later into the regular season. I think they were being genuine with those comments. But again, it doesn't mean that the expectation was that they expected to fight for a playoff spot. Those are 2 different things.

In a way, I do feel like they are at risk of becoming Detroit in the sense that Larkin's window has been wasted as they still toil in mediocrity. Suzuki will be 26 before next season and I think the expectation would be that they move move forward before Suzuki gets in Larkin territory.
By the time this team is a playoffs team, Suzuki willl probably not be its #1 center because he will be over 30. Goalies and Dmen take always the longest to mature and they were all drafted after him.

Kent tried to speed it up a bit by acquiring more 2019 players, but it looks like that was a failed gamble.

Primeau has had his ups and downs in the nhl. That's not unique in the nhl but his lows are too low, and his window to establish himself is basically closed.

I was hoping he could build on last year, but i wasn't declaring him as a locked in nhl level goalie yet either. Unfortunately, he hasn't built on it and his time is essentially up at least in Montreal.
I think you're right.

Yes they were. But they wanted it to come from the kids. But as New Jersey last year and Avs 2016-17 are good examples young teams are unpredictable.

I agree with that. Their moves have been consistent with the notion that any steps forward will be steps forward from the youth.

Have to send a message to some vets at one point too. Honestly the kids were okay today imo. The vets played maybe their worst game of the season. With good vets support and a NHL goalie we could have win that gamr imo.
Yup
MSL won't
Matheson can keep doing his thing and no change

Armia and Dvorak were awful in the offensive zone too. They killed many plays like a lot. I understand they play well on the PK but they are not some skill less 4th liner playing a physical game and bothering the other team. If it was the case then good play on the pk would be enough. They have to play a better 200 feet game.

He kind of have to wait for Armia and Dvorak to be gone to fix it. We have Armia, Dvorak, Anderson, Gallagher, Evans in the bottoms 6. There's no room for anything. If you go get a physical bottom 6 guy then it means Heineman is in the AHL which i'm not sure would be good for him. AT one point too many bodies int eh AHL means some wont play. I don't want to defend KH but he had his hands tied. I've been saying this since day 1 summer of 2025 it's where it will be for KH. This is where he'll have to start managing the team and put his stamp. I know everyone is like send them to the AHL but it would send the wrong message to any UFA wanting to sign with us.
Yeah because we had to hold on to Pezz who we don't even f***ing use.
Not a good excuse.

Surprised it wasn't USA...USA...USA.

Not sure why north american hockey fans get triggered at ole. It's not like the goodbye song which is actually pointed at the opposing team.

I just went to the survivor series wwe event last night in Vancouver, and the crowd was singing ole there too. They were just having a good time which is really what it's all about and it has no reference to the opposition or "bad guy". There's no reason to be mad other than I guess people getting mad that the crowd is having a good time.

I’ll say it ; Primeau is the worst goalie in team history; Red light Racicot looked line a Vezina contender compared to Primeau.
Time to wave the guy; no way in hell any team picks him up..

Right. Because HOFers can do that. Normal goalies can't.

Montie has shown enough to talent to win some games he shouldn't. We were putrid for much of the start of this year and there wasn't much he could do about it. He was really good last year and won us a bunch of games we had no business being in.

Is he a star goalie? No. A starter? Absolutely. Put him on a good team and he'll have at least average numbers.

Primeau has been a huge disappointment. No biggie though, I don't think anyone expected that much. He's a backup and we have Fowler on the way.
Price had bad teams in front of him (not every years) but nothing compared to Monty is having. Price had decent D in front of him and an overall good defensive minded forwards.

At this point, nobody cares if he's picked when waived.
