Nobody is saying Montie is Carey Price.

Carey Price is probably a first ballot HOFer and his numbers were crap once we junked the team. If he can't do it, why would you expect a guy like Montie to be able to?

Every year he's started here we've been a brutal club.

I'm not sure what's wrong with some of you guys that you can't understand that playing on bad teams affects your numbers as a goalie. Even Price - who you yourself brought up - had it happen to him. Of course his numbers are going to suffer.

Price has also carried terrible teams.

But it’s not about Price, what I’m getting at is that Montembault is absolutely barely a starting NHL goaltender and he’s simply not good enough to be a #1 on a team that aspires to be better than what we are.

Primeau is so bad he couldn’t #1 in Laval.

I agree. But he was good last year so i can't really blame KH for trying him. Don't think Primo finish the year with us though if he keeps playing like that. KH will give up and go get a cheap vet number 2 to finish the year.

He shouldn't finish this week with us, and the week ends tonight.

There's no reason at all to have Primeau play another game for Montreal. You need to send a message to everyone in that locker room that there are standards, and his play is not at the NHL level and he does not give the team an opportunity to win.

There has to be accountability, and he's quite simply not good enough.

It's over for him.

Primeau was so much better last year. He's really been poor this season.

Fowler coming soon. :)

Primeau has had his ups and downs in the nhl. That's not unique in the nhl but his lows are too low, and his window to establish himself is basically closed.

I was hoping he could build on last year, but i wasn't declaring him as a locked in nhl level goalie yet either. Unfortunately, he hasn't built on it and his time is essentially up at least in Montreal.

In the mix means they want to play more meaningful games later into the regular season. I think they were being genuine with those comments. But again, it doesn't mean that the expectation was that they expected to fight for a playoff spot. Those are 2 different things.

In a way, I do feel like they are at risk of becoming Detroit in the sense that Larkin's window has been wasted as they still toil in mediocrity. Suzuki will be 26 before next season and I think the expectation would be that they move forward before Suzuki gets in Larkin territory.
Yes they were. But they wanted it to come from the kids. But as New Jersey last year and Avs 2016-17 are good examples young teams are unpredictable.

Right. Because HOFers can do that. Normal goalies can't.

Montie has shown enough to talent to win some games he shouldn't. We were putrid for much of the start of this year and there wasn't much he could do about it. He was really good last year and won us a bunch of games we had no business being in.

Is he a star goalie? No. A starter? Absolutely. Put him on a good team and he'll have at least average numbers.

Primeau has been a huge disappointment. No biggie though, I don't think anyone expected that much. He's a backup and we have Fowler on the way.
