Depiste what Gorton said i don't think Gorton and KH want to be in the mix though. They probably want to avoid a situation like Detroit where despite UFA signings and vet acquisitions the team is still not a playoffs team and they draft low. All moves by KH indicate he wants the kids to lead the team to a near playoffs position before moving and it's not happening this year which is certainly not a huge surprise. If he wanted to be in the mix he would have Kept Kova, Allen and signed Monahan.

In the mix means they want to play more meaningful games later into the regular season. I think they were being genuine with those comments. But again, it doesn't mean that the expectation was that they expected to fight for a playoff spot. Those are 2 different things.

In a way, I do feel like they are at risk of becoming Detroit in the sense that Larkin's window has been wasted as they still toil in mediocrity. Suzuki will be 26 before next season and I think the expectation would be that they move forward before Suzuki gets in Larkin territory.

Am i alone to think it's not that bad of a game for such a young team 2 games in two days against a very experienced team after a long delay. I mean if you remove Matheson blunders and put a real NHL goalie in the net it would be a much closer game imo. I might be too much of a fan drinking some kool aid though dunno.
i think one positive is that Suzuki and Caufield, and to a lesser extent Hutson, all produce points even in losing games.

Well that might make sense. Still freaking boring to watch an AHL goalie like Primo sucking all the life from this team.
I agree. But he was good last year so i can't really blame KH for trying him. Don't think Primo finish the year with us though if he keeps playing like that. KH will give up and go get a cheap vet number 2 to finish the year.

Right.

We were stalwarts in the Price era.
Nobody is saying Montie is Carey Price.

Carey Price is probably a first ballot HOFer and his numbers were crap once we junked the team. If he can't do it, why would you expect a guy like Montie to be able to?
Montembault is below league average in save percentage every year he’s started here.

It’s a bad take, take your L and move along.
Every year he's started here we've been a brutal club.

I'm not sure what's wrong with some of you guys that you can't understand that playing on bad teams affects your numbers as a goalie. Even Price - who you yourself brought up - had it happen to him. Of course his numbers are going to suffer.
