So what? I never said Montreal had a good team. They are rebuilding. Winnipeg is solid in net. Of course Canadiens might be too if Price returns. Jets are lacking in depth.
In any event Suzuki and Dubois are close but Suzuki is a leader and I am not convinced Dubois is a guy you win with. And I'd rather add a Wright or Cooley to Habs group of centres (if they get the chance) than Dubois.

Its jets that have a problem. PLD needs a new contract. since he is SO GREAT he will demand 6-8 years at 10-11 mil per. SO go ahead and fit that into your cap. and he is NOT the only one needing a big raise new contract on the Jets. WOW I gotta see this fit a square peg into a round anything. Welcome to the " I have a cap problem club"

The Habs are in a worse cap situation than the Jets, not even close. I don’t see Dubois getting more than 8m so the Jets can fit it quite easily under the cap.

How so?

With Weber Retired and Price on LTIR? Habs have zero cap issues. None whatsoever.

I swear no one takes the five minutes to go to capfriendly and confirm we’re fine. Weber is LTIR and likely traded this summer. Price potentially back and we’ve already cleared$10M+ in contracts from the books

If Habs dont finish with the 1st overall pick would both teams do this trade

To MTL :

Pierre Luc Dubois

To WPG :

2022 Calgary 1st Round Pick
Kaiden Guhle
Ryan Poehling

Habs draft Nemec with our pick
Why because he is Quebecois? No thanks.

 Poehling is no 1st rounder now, You'd be lucky to get a 3rd or 4th round pick for him. And yeah players like PLD could return 3 1st rounders rather easily.
Imagine thinking guy like PLD could return what a guy like Chycrun... The guy is a 60pts C as of now.

And then saying He and Suzukia have similar value... Do you gusy realize one of them is playing with ACTUAL top6 talented people like Connor, Scheiffle, Wheeler, Ehlers, while the other is playing with Cauifled as his best linemate?

Even with Weber traded the Habs have 8m to sign 4/5 players. And Weber is still not traded so counting in the offseason.

In what world are you living ? Weber is not retired and Price is coming back...
Weber is on LTIR for the rest of his contract. Price won't come back with he Habs, and EVEN if he did, Habs still have mor than enough place to fit him.

With net to zero big contracts to renew for the next 4-5years, Habs are in a great position. and then add one of Bedard/ Michkov / Fantilli next year and we'll be golden

But why would we need to sign players? we're rebuilding. Habs will promote their young kids like Ylonen ect. that's it.

To the actual post, if we were too look at anything that would be fair it’d be the habs pick (assuming 4th or 5th after the lottery) Ryan poehling and a 2nd.

I thought we were done with underwhelming Habs proposals after Laine was traded. This offer is a breath of stale air.

To sign who exactly? 4th liners?

Suzuki (8) caufield (1) Anderson (5.5) 14.5
Drouin(5.5) dvorak(4.5) Hoffman (4.5) 14.5
Gallagher (6.5) evans (1.7) Byron (3.4) 11.6
Armia (3.4) poehling (0.75) ylonen (1) 6
Pezzerta (0.75)
47

Edmunson (3.5) petry (6.25
Romanov (rfa) savard (3.5)
Harris/Guhle/Barron/Schenumann (1-2M)
(20ish once Romanov signs)

13.25
Price 10.5
Allen 2.75
Or Montembault 1

Looks like 81M with our cap buyout of alzner to me?

Not to mention petry likely gets moved and potentially Allen as well

Typical Montreal offer. Please give us your star player who isn't really that good for these spare parts. Proceed to become offended when offer is refused.
All three are 1st..sorry to burst your bubble. Imagine thinking PLD is worth a ton.
PLD is a 23 yr old, 60 point centre who is the definition of a modern day power forward who has been the Jets second best most consistent player all season. He would be worth a ton.
