Yeah these stages are best for ppv's. The reason is that they use the raw and smackdown stages typically for ppv's and the ppv should be bigger in nature than a regular show.

And what do they do? They go exactly opposite from that. Most PPV's don't even have stages...not even a ramp. lol

Also did anyone notice a new camera angle? I heard they added an over top camera. And I felt the camera crew filmed this a bit differently. More shaky than usual, is it a change? Or it may have been me. I will try to research it though.

This was the Summerslam 2013 set, very similar if not THE same thing.

The shaky part has actually been there in and out for a while now. They did a little more in-ring interviewing than they have historically done which I think is a good idea. I didn't see anything noticeably different in how they broadcasted the matches.

Yup found another article that noticed the camera crew changes.

"Raw gets off to a hot start that signals change and freshness immediately. There’s a new look to the set, with the announce team taking the old WCW/Eric Bischoff-run Raw spot, and the production team is even trying out a few new camera angles, including a great roaming camera that shoots under the bottom rope, and a moving aerial shot that works well to establish the atmosphere around the ring"

Additionally one other thing that they did more of was the shakiness and fast spans that made the matches feel a bit more intense. I definitely noticed it in 4 way match when Owens and Rusev worked together for a few segments in the match.

All the Russo disciples on the 'net are using the "vanilla midget" term today.

I do see the danger in strapping a rocket to Balor's back, unless this is all to turn him heel and align with the Club as heel champ, which to me it has to be....

I would be excited if Balor Club is formed and it gets the backing of Stephanie. That would turn Seth and start his chase of the title. I could definitely get behind that.

A lot of you will be dissapointed. I don't think they'll turn Finn heel. Not yet. It also makes too much sense so WWE won't do it.

If Finn is over I don't see them turning him right now.

They see Seth as top heel and they need a top face with Roman being pushed down the card

It would honestly be refreshing if Finn is coming up with a rocket. They should of done this before with NXT callups.

KO came up with fire and they squandered the momentium of his call up. Same with Sasha.

I hope we see more of this with Nakamura comes up. These guys are already stars. Just let them be stars.

Finn rising up and turning heel would give them a top heel and a top baby with Rollins essentially turning face. I don't disagree with you that they probably see it the way you say but at least there's a good seed of doubt on some of this stuff right now with Reigns pretty much out of the picture.

I think they just like Seth as a heel right to much. Plus Seth seems to be having a ball since he came back, and I imagine they are fine with him getting tweener reactions.

I think they use this Summerslam build as a litmus test. If Finn falters a bit you turn him, but if it works then just roll with it.

He moves merch and if nothing else he looks like a star when you turn the lights on.

Honestly I'm excited for this feud as I think having Seth on the mic across him will bring the best out of Finn. I have no dount they will put on a great match. Potentially Finn's best match in a year (KO)

That was the best Raw in a long time. Actually feels like a fresh start. Let's see where the go from here.

Actually looking forward to SD tonight. Something I haven't said since like 2005.

The shaky cam annoys me. I get they do it to make it feel more "intense", but it just feels cheap to me. But then I'm not really a fan of shaky cams in movies either, so maybe that's just me.

This was the first Raw I've watched in probably two months, and if they can keep up the way they paced and booked this show, things are looking up. Obviously they're not going to have big moments like Sasha winning the title and Balor punching his ticket to SS every week, but they're off to a strong start with the brand split so far.

Pretty much agree with everything he said. Clearly I'm in the minority these days. Interesting how much things have changed.

I don't usually watch, did a few years ago. Can these new guys even talk? Balor and zayn seem like the exact same guy and incredibly bland. The women's match was great, did not expect a women's match to be that good!

I keep thinking what is the character? Cesaro takes a suit off then wrestles, zayn walks weird to the ring then Wrestles, Baylor does some lights stuff then wrestles, reigns walks to the ring and wrestles, why should I care who wins? Where are the characters? Also the crowd was very quiet during really good matches and it's because these guys don't actually have characters to attach to.
Couldn't agree more. These guys are so bland. Particularly Zayn. Balor seems to be too but this is the first time I've seen him so I can't comment as much. Cesaro is absolutely phenomenal in the ring, one of the all-time greats, but he's still not an interesting character.

I'm not on other wrestling forums but I saw someone mention that the "vanilla midget" term was floating around. Can't say I'm surprised.

I'll echo the above. If Vince Russo doesn't like it, it's probably a fantastic idea.

Russo sucks and never respected the business.

The era of giant plugs is finally ending in the name of legitimately talented workers.

Blandness comes from being micromanaged, not lack of talent.

Look at Ambrose and his mic work in the early days of the Shield, his Moxley stuff, hell even his promo with Seth the week before their Raw title match. But for the past years they've wanted him to be a wacky cartoon character so that they can sell his t-shirt to children.

Sami has had nothing to do but punch Owens in the face for the past 7 months. What kind of "character" does he need? Owens stabbed him in the back and put him on the shelf for 6 months. He's a guy standing up for himself against a bully. And that was enough to put on a 4.5-star match.

Storytelling should be simple, not slapped with bells and whistles. Not everyone needs to be The Rock. Orton is one of the most vanilla guys in the company, but he's still crazy over and draws money for the company.
