I loved that you picked MacKinnon, because that meant i get Jones :)

How could washington not take the best player of the draft ??? Also Washington will be even better with putting Mackinnon with Ovechkin. Then having Backstrom as the 2nd center and have Ribeiro as the 3rd center.

Washington could even make Mackinnon play a more deffensive role and put him on the 3rd line. He does it all and I think any team would be crazy to not take him.
He's the complete player any team wish to have. I'm just happy that the hype of drouin got me Mackinnon. So I guess we all win. lol!!!

First off, it wasn't hype that made me pick Drouin... I picked him because I wanted to throw a change-up.. that way we could see how the draft unfolds from different perspectives. What fun is it if we KNOW who's going to be picked? And if history's shown us anything, heck last year alone, is that anything can happen.

Second, you're both welcome for taking Drouin.

I did my undergrad at Ohio State, so I was able to catch quite a few CBJ games over the last 4 years- and I think Drouin is a great fit for them. Not really a change-up pick in the sense that it is not a smart pick... but I guess it does go against current popular thought.

Washington select Jacob de la Rose from Leksands IF

Agile three zone centre-forward with speed, impressive puck skills, who plays an aggressive forechecking game, as well as having a strong offensive side. Possesses excellent functional strength, good feet and straight ahead acceleration. Handles the bisquit well at top speed, and distributes well. Finishes checks and uses his size in the cycle down low. Aggressively involves himself, as his size may call for him to play with more edge than finesse, but is a dependable positionally sound defensive player who gets asked to shut down the opponents late and on the penalty kill. Intriguing long term potential as a power wing with size, offensive upside, and solid two way impact.

I just felt I wanted to stay true to washington need and constent. They love their Sweeds.

Nice couple picks, especially Colorado putting Petan with Jones.

I was thinking about Petan but is size is a big risk. Will he translate well in the nhl ? I'm really not sure, I hope he does but I felt Jacob de la Rose was a better fit for Washington. If I was a team known for taking gamble like that I would of taking Petan. Either way nice pick.

The funny thing I was thinking of taking Mueller but I felt it was too early. I guess I was wrong. I rather take a d with my 3rd round pick.

Liking how this draft is stacking up so far.

Only pick I have a problem with is Zadarov. If there's one team I think has a legitimate reason to shy away from Russians, its Columbus. They also have little need for defensemen, and with Lindholm still on the board, that pick makes even less sense. There were also better defensemen still on the board.

Not trying to bash the pick, it is just a game, but I'd really like to know the rationale behind that pick. Definitely a controversial one. I read through everything, but it still doesn't really make that much sense to me.

Also, Murray isn't really an offensive defenseman. If I had to make a comparison, I think he'll turn out a lot like Dan Hamhuis.

I agree, with one other mention being that he (Zadorov) might of been available at pick #14. Columbus is a team that should draft the best player available. One other note, Zadorov is ranked #30th or so by Central Scouting, although I would disagree with that ranking, I would really consider it.

I'm not using CSS rankings though, i'm using Bob McKenzie's... which had Zadorov 9th. And my reasoning behind taking him 7th is because I wanted both he and Fucale. 7th would have been WAY too early for Fucale, and I may have lost Zadorov between 8th-13th.. and since we can't trade, I couldn't risk it.

As for the Russian/Columbus stuff.. I don't buy into it. Klesla and Zherdev didn't turn out to be terrible players, Zherdev being the better... the only thing that screwed it up was Filatov.. Also, we have to take into account that Zadorov is already playing over in North America.. he's used to the style of play over here, and has excelled at it. And last of all, I wanted a big-bodied dman which Zadorov is (6'5" 230lbs).

True, he isn't an offensive defenseman per se, but he DOES have offensive potential which was more of what I meant by it. Poor wording on my part, sorry.

Columbus has Murray, Savard, Moore, Erixon, and Goloubef to go with their already solid defense of Wisniewski, Johnson, Nikitin, and Tyutin.

Their greatest need is dynamic offensive talent, and I can't imagine they would pass over the consensus BPA to draft to a position of strength.

I'm just mad because you gave me a guilty conscience for taking Nichushkin over him.:P
