Don Maloney: Thanks to the great fans of New Jersey for all of your hospitality and a special thank you to all of our great fans back in Arizona for all of their support. We'd like to welcome to the podium, 2012 first round draft pick Henrik Samuelsson, who we've invited here to make our selection for us.

Henrik Samuelsson: It's a great honor to select, on behalf of the Phoenix Coyotes, from the Edmonton Oil Kings, my linemate...

:coyotes Curtis Lazar :coyotes

Damn, was hoping he'd slip to 25th.

Damn I got him at 32 last draft... Stupid mckenzie and his stupid list ;)

How'd you know I was using that :amazed:

Also, I was taking into account that he's Swedish and Ottawa been lovin' the Swedish players lately... as well as that he's able to play each forward position, so when Alfie decides to retire, they'll have two solid prospects (Silfverberg) that could eventually take the spot!

Detroit select Bo Horvat from London Knight of the OHL

edbc247fd5366db68742442f383ebd15.jpeg

Center on the powerhouse London Knights who has seen time on the wing, and is an exceptional face-off man. Exceptionally strong and effective three-zone stud who is a rock of a specimen. Strong on the puck and in the cycle, as well as coming out to the front with the puck for the shot. Good shot and good passer, he projects as an almost certain selection with upside. As a rookie last year he was on the PK team, and stood out as part of Team Ontario at the 2012 U17 WHC’s, with 4 goals and 7 points in 6 games. When the puck is on his stick, you can be sure he either penetrates or quickly dishes to the right man to continue the offensive press. He is an excellent penalty-killer, an aggressive forechecker, and fearless in the dirty areas, whether it be the front or the corners.

I thought I'd get flamed to ashes for choosing Lazar above some of the guys I passed on. Four of them specifically, I thought I'd be mocked for leaving on the board. All four are still on the board. None would've been my pick if Lazar were gone. Pretty surprising.

After pick 10 its really kinda up in the air on who gets picked when. I know what you mean though, I have a guy in mind that I'm surprised hasn't been picked yet.

I love Lazar, he's a very safe pick, he is currently playing extremely well and people based his play compared to other prospects solely based on stats. In my opinion, this guy's downside is a third line center. This kid plays with a great edge, all-around player that any team would love to have, he can produce offensively as well. His stock and ranking has somewhat dropped because of others prospects growing, not based on Lazar's play entirely, this is just an opinion.
