It's weird, because i always think of Elk River as a strong program. Didn't Centennial win just a few years ago? It's good to see WBL, Rochester, Centennial Chan and Elk River get in.
I think the last time ER made it in was in the Paul Martin era.
I also can't remember the last time any Rochester school made it.
Apparently all the kids hate Tonka because they filched players from Chan, Chaska. Some, if not all of them, have addresses of convenience, and do online schooling. There was a lot of cheering going on when Chanhassen won.One of those years where I have no one to cheer for, maybe Chan just since it’s rare for them.
Yes I've always thought of ER as a strong program. They must be coming out of a strong section...and truth be told it's really tough to crack that nut (get in to State)It's weird, because i always think of Elk River as a strong program. Didn't Centennial win just a few years ago?

I always think of ER and Centennial as strong teams too, they were always good competition. I believe it was ER that stopped an undefeated season for me growing up, they can get bent. It's weird, because i always think of Elk River as a strong program. Didn't Centennial win just a few years ago?

Wha? Chaska poached? You know you are talking about two have not programs, right, at least compared to Tonka?I always think of ER and Centennial as strong teams too, they were always good competition. I believe it was ER that stopped an undefeated season for me growing up, they can get bent.
The Chaska kids in this scenario don’t have a leg to stand on, they poached in that region for decades. Chan didn’t even have a hockey program until recently, they also have no right to complain.
In my day Tonka was the have not program and Chaska was the problem child.Wha? Chaska poached? You know you are talking about two have not programs, right, at least compared to Tonka?
I haven’t thought of Burnsville as strong in over 2 decades, maybe 3? Apple Valley seems to have a few good years and then disappear, not a major concern generally though.I've always thought of Anoka as a strong program but they haven't been to state in while if my memory serves me.
There is a lot of changes going at the moment. Burnsville's program is dying, Apple Valley seems to be toast. These are historically great programs.
Really? How old are you?In my day Tonka was the have not program and Chaska was the problem child.

And of course, the grandaddy of them all, Bloomington Jefferson. The blue bloods like Edina and Hill Murray will always have strong programs. But them aside, as the metro areas expand outwards, so do the hockey powers. Over the past few decades, younger families have moved to the outer fringes on the metro area, and bring with them kids that fill the youth programs. I grew up in Coon Rapids in the 70's and 80's, back then Andover was a backwater town with just a few thousand people and with no high school. Now it's a hockey power. There are other examples such as Lakeville and Prior Lake.
Well I was in one of those very strong programs, in my experience Chaska was far superior to the Skippers, but both below Edina. Wayzata in the middle though I never had much trouble with them. I may be slightly biased since I did do a little coaching with the Skippers, but I was also friends with Chaska kids and knew the sketchy shit they were doing too (like literally everybody was at the time.) I am not sure that the transfer rule really solved anything but it at least made it a bit more difficult to pull an Anders Lee.Really? How old are you?
In youth hockey Tonka was always very strong, together with Edina, EP, and Wayzata. Prior Lake also had some good years. Chaska/Chan was also vg... a tad below, but good. Once they got to HS, though, they split the talent, and things got pretty grim.
I only go back about 15 years, though.
Oh yeah, screw Jefferson too, hated those guys. And of course, the grandaddy of them all, Bloomington Jefferson.
Hill Murray is a different case because they are a private... a change of coaching/direction can always happen there like it did with Holy Angels, and Breck.
Edina, and maybe a couple of others can take having a few of their kids being poached by privates(or others), but it can devastating to some programs to have their best two kids grabbed.
Brock Boeser is a Burnsville guy. Can't recall if he brought them to state though. In my day Tonka was the have not program and Chaska was the problem child.

EP has had 3+ for a while now, Leddy, Mittelstadt, Seeler, and before had the Rau’s with Bickell, and some cups of coffee guys. And I think South Saint Paul had three guys in the NHL just a few years ago. I'm not sure but I'd willing to bet for MN high schools they had the most representation in the NHL. Why, I have no idea. There is nothing special about SSP.
Falk, Stalock and I there was one more SSP guy in the NHL
You're right. I wonder how many Edina players there. Didn't Anders Lee play four years for Giles? And then Sammy Walker, who I would consider one of those cup of coffee guys. There's gotta be one or two moreEP has had 3+ for a while now, Leddy, Mittelstadt, Seeler, and before had the Rau’s with Bickell, and some cups of coffee guys.
Surprised there aren’t more Edina guys in the league. I don’t know if I would even count Anders Lee with how many orgs he played for.
Jamie McBain and Kiefer Bellows are the only big names unless you go back to Hankinson. At least that I could reasonably locate, my list wasn’t great to work off of. Lee played for EP, St. Thomas, and Edina in a 3 year span. You're right. I wonder how many Edina players there. Didn't Anders Lee play four years for Giles? Lee was definitely with EP immediately before he went to St. Thomas. I don’t think that is fully accurate.Bellows. I remember he had beef w Giles. Anders Lee's wiki shows he played two years at Edina.
3 yrs St Thomas, two at Edina:

Lee played football with Edina, for sure.Lee was definitely with EP immediately before he went to St. Thomas. I don’t think that is fully accurate.
Housley? I've heard he was insanely good, from people who saw him play. And I think South Saint Paul had three guys in the NHL just a few years ago. Oh yeah, not questioning that, but I thought the timeline was a lot tighter on his team switching, it was a big deal at the time in my hockey bubble.Lee played football with Edina, for sure.
Bellows, and his Dad, had problems with anyone who didn't bow down before them, going back to a really young age.Bellows. I remember he had beef w Giles. Anders Lee's wiki shows he played two years at Edina.

Long retired from the NHL by the time Falk and Stalock played high school in St. Paul, so no, not Housely.Lee played football with Edina, for sure.
