How did Brink's shot get through all that traffic to even result in that ping? Talk about threading the needle!
I beg to differ. These communities that used to rally around hockey - to come together around hockey - aren't the same without it.Demographics change. People move, the Demographics of those playing hockey have moved to other communities. This isn't a problem .
Those people move to other communities, new communities are starting to develop those same passions over time...I beg to differ. These communities that used to rally around hockey - to come together around hockey - aren't the same without it.
It's not the same. We're talking about history tradition and culture. Seeing programs like Jefferson Burnsville AV all the inner city programs disappear is a tragedy. Those people move to other communities, new communities are starting to develop those same passions over time...
You have to wonder if MN HS hockey will even be around in a hundred years. Many of the better players leave early now for juniors to begin with and it seems more leave early than ever before now.The worst part is how it seems no one wants to step up and make it an issue. It’s seem minnesota hockey is perfectly content with these communities dying because they can get rich kids from Edina to give them 5000 for land dry training
Everything ends, new things begin, new traditions start somewhere else. It's not the same. We're talking about history tradition and culture. Seeing programs like Jefferson Burnsville AV all the inner city programs disappear is a tragedy.
You're just being nostalgic. Nothing wrong with it but expecting the world not to change is a bold strategy. It's not the same. We're talking about history tradition and culture. Seeing programs like Jefferson Burnsville AV all the inner city programs disappear is a tragedy.

dude, you’re old!Everything ends, new things begin, new traditions start somewhere else.
You can't stop people from living where they want. The demographic that plays hockey, they have chosen to move away from these communities. It was going to happen eventually.
I remember when Burnsville and Apple Valley were new hockey powers themselves...
In those days people were lamenting the fall of Richfield and Minneapolis South West etc.
Agreed. It would be more of a worry if you saw unhealthy total youth hockey numbers, that would mean the sport would be in trouble, but we have very healthy numbers, so things are just changing... which over a long period of time is normal. You're just being nostalgic. Nothing wrong with it but expecting the world not to change is a bold strategy.
I listed Burnsville and Apple Valley, not Bloomington Jefferson. I grew up with Jefferson already a power. When hockey originally
dude, you’re old!
Bloomington Jefferson, of course, was a huge power through the 80’s and 90’s
Still waiting for you to complete your thought here...When hockey originally
Oh, that was left over from something I was going to write and post regarding social classes and the origins of hockey, but then went, “Nah.”.Still waiting for you to complete your thought here...
if Lakeville south upsets Andover, I'll be happy for them and root for them in the Semis
Not that I'm aware of. The Farmington HS is very near the Lakeville border on the south side. Might be some Lakeville kids in Farmington actually... there's a Lakeville neighborhood in walking distance from the Farmington HS.Surely South has a Farmington kid or two to root for.
