McCutchen, Andrew.

Got a bad feeling about Judge's injury and if he'll play again this year.

Good pick up.We needed outfield help badly. No more Robinson in the lineup makes me happy.I guess Andrew will play right field for us.

The Yankees acquired outfielder Andrew McCutchen from the Giants on Thursday, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.
McCutchen, 31, reportedly cleared revocable waivers earlier this week, making him eligible to be traded to any team. Players must be on a roster by Friday to be eligible for postseason play.
McCutchen is hitting .255/.357/.415 with 16 home runs and 13 steals this season after being traded to San Francisco by the Pirates last offseason. He is a five-time All-Star (most recently in 2015) and was the 2013 National League Most Valuable Player.
MLB Network insider Joel Sherman reports that infielder Abiatal Avelino, the Yankees' No. 23 prospect per MLB Pipeline, would be part of the return for the Giants. In 123 games between Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, the 23-year-old is slashing .287/.333/.446 with 15 homers.
The Yankees may be motivated to add McCutchen given the uncertain status of slugging outfielder Aaron Judge, whose recovery from a right wrist fracture he sustained on July 26 has been slower than anticipated.

This is why Betances isn't a closer
Boone is a f***ing joke. This is why we are screwed. We have a guy who has no experience and is simplt throwing darts at the board. We are in trouble with him. He comes up with these wild ideas based on God knows what and tries them out. Not once can I say Boone thought of something out of the ordinary and I said wow great move by Boone or great instinct. But there are plenty of times where Boone as left me speechless and dumbfounded with his decisions. Tonight is just another example.

A little late to add an OF but at least this will spell the end of sugar Shane Robinson.
McCutchen is still okay with the bat. Sucks as a fielder and isn't good on the base paths. I could totally see him experiencing some sort of mini-revitalization with the bat, though. It's a reasonable acquisition considering they didn't give up much.

Ever since Betances got upset over the arbitration situation I’ve questioned his mental toughness. I get being pissed and taking what the moron Levine said personally, but I’d have preferred he brushed it off publicly. Everyone would get upset, but the ‘hey business is business’ answer shows your able to keep your emotions in check somewhat and take the higher road even though everyone knows your simmering about it. Betances whined to the media after he lost the case which shows some immaturity and mental ‘softness’ (for lack of a better word).

I have been extremely tough on Betances this year and was questioning his mental makeup, however, he has been very good since his disasterous start over the first month and a half or so, and that has been as an 8th inning shutdown guy. Why he was used as a Closer over Britton is unexplainable...its asinine. Boone doesnt know, doesnt get it. He is basically a car salesman BSing his way through this season

Betances had a bad outing and now he sucks?

Jesus people.
I didn't see anyone say he sucks, just that he shouldn't be closing--particularly with Britton on the team. I don't really have a rooting interest but those things both seem reasonable to me.

(I also can't see all posts, like most of us, so I may have missed stuff)

Betances has pretty much been lights out for most of the season. Britton has been off or on.

Dellin had a bad moment at an inopportune time, it happens to literally every reliever.

McCutchen will be miles better than Robinson.

Robinson is so milquetoast, he is the "Replacement" in "Wins Above Replacement"

Betances in his prior 39 games before last night-1 h.r and 3 runs total..last night 2 h.r's and 3 runs.Keep him out of the closer role Boone.Still can't believe he did that last night when he had both Britton and Robertson who have plenty of closing experience.

I understand. But, Betances has been dominant as a setup guy. For various reasons, it's just different closing out games. Britton has had an up-and-down campaign but was pretty good in limited action last year and dominant the couple years before. Just seems like the move would have been to go with the guy with a recent record of good success closing. JMO, though.

Britton hasn't been good all year so I don't know why you would bring him in to try and close out the game.

Futhermore, he's better against lefties than righties and the Tigers had a lineup of all righties/switch hitters yesterday which is even more reason to not bring Britton in.
