Why get rid of Smith? I understand he may not be good, but he has no value right now. No sense just kicking him to the curb. If nothing else let him try to rebuild some value in Syracuse.
I'm not advocating getting rid of him...I just think management is not as high on him as they were previously. Of course, this could all change with new GM....I just have a feeling they'll trade him.

Yeah I get that and agree they're probably not high on him. I just think it would be a mistake to trade him now. His value was always tenuous, but after this season it has to be zero. So your be trading him for nothing. Give him a year in Syracuse to build some value, or, worst case, he continues to suck and is still worth nothing. Just seems like holding onto him for another year would be best, but it's the Mets so who knows.

I don't think they'll trade him right away...you are correct about his current value. I honestly don't think he'll be the player they imagined after all of the injuries. What I should have said was that I don't believe management sees him as part of the Mets' future any longer and, therefore, will probably trade him. I think he'll be part of a package deal (I'm thinking for a catcher).

Unless it's Realmuto I wouldn't even trade for a C. The state of catching in baseball these days is really bad. The production the Mets have gotten out of the C position is on par with most teams.

They have allowed a lot of SB but that has a lot more to do with just having pitchers who can't hold on runners than the catchers (Syndergaard/Matz/Vargas in particular).

I would just look to sign Tyler Flowers.

He hit that really...

...Andufar

Desperately need an upgrade on 1B next season.

Andujar could play there as its less demanding defensively and if his range doesn't improve at 3B. I believe he already played a bit before in his minor league career.

3B slot can then be used to sign Donaldson.

Would have been nice if they didn't blow a few gimmies.

Tampa is a f***ing weird team. They're in the middle of their 3rd winning streak of 7 or more games this season.

Their lineup is horrible and they have like 2 starting pitchers but somehow they get the job done.
